Full Poly stringing: 17g or 16g ?

Almost time to get another reel of Volkl Cyclone.

My reel of 17g is almost out. Still have my reel of 18g but only use it in 18x20 pattern racquets, which my regular racquet is not.
Debating whether to get 16g this time or stick with 17g.

Been awhile since I used 16g poly. Does it offer more spin? A lot less power?

My tension has been creeping up to now 58 lbs to get more control, so I'm thinking maybe I should use thicker poly and decrease tension.

Look on stringforum.net and click "Ratings Database" in the left sidebar. In the search field type Cyclone
then enter. This will give you a comparison of what reviewers thought of the different gauges of this string.

thicker gauge = more control + durability, less power, less spin
u could try hybrid with 16g mains and 18g crosses if u primarily break mains...increased durability from mains AND spin from thinner crosses. IME 16g feels less comfortable but better durability + tension maintenance. 17 or 18g has better playability and more elasticity in string bed resulting in better ball pocketing. I would go down 3-4 lbs in tension if going down on gauge...

Softest string you can use at the lowest tension without losing control, if you are able to control 17G and it meets your durability requirement, I would use that.

It depends on the string also. I wouldn't give you $2 for a reel of 1.25mm Volkl Cyclone Tour (VCT) as it is awful and clients would complain "my strings are moving around in less than 5 hours." I warned a friend not to buy VCT 1.25mm but he didn't listen to me, bought a reel of it, then complained about it when I strung his frames with it. The .05mm difference between VCT 1.30mm and 1.25mm is the greatest extreme in terms of playability I have seen in the same string of different tensions. Told him to donate the string to some kid learning to string as I had no use for it whatsoever.

VCT 1.30mm: it's a completely different story. Been using VCT 1.30mm for six years, have five reels on hand (one reel of the red is a client's reel) as I go through it faster than any other string. For quick string breakers who snap Solinco Hyper G or Revolution 1.25mm in less than 10 hours, I use 1.30mm Hyper G and 1.30mm Revolution.

I've been using Cyclone (17g) instead of Cyclone Tour.
Is there a reason you stock or use Cyclone vs Cyclone Tour?

Which would you pick between regular Cyclone 17g and Cyclone Tour 16g?

I don't care about comfort, just feel, spin, control and power.

Cyclone Tour 1.30mm

Have you tried the VCT 1.20 and how does that compare to the 1.30 my main concern is comfort. Thanks.
I have a reel of 1.20 Volkl Cyclone but have only used it to string my RF97 and Head Radical, both of which I have only hit with a little bit. I like it more in the Head Radical. Have not tried it in my Yonex 95D yet.

When I restring I'll try the 1.30 to compare.
