Full poly to hybrid or full multi?

I have never used anything else than full poly. Recently tension 24kg MSV focus hex 1.23 and tecnifibre black code. Last 7 months I have been recovering TE and now trying to move away from poly.

So please give some advice where to start with new string setup without too big difference what I'm used to.

I have full strokes, I need good control and spin, more comfort due to TE, but not too much power or too "spongy" feeling. Should I try:

1. hybrid poly mains/ multi cross? What multi, tension?
2. hybrid multi mains / poly? What multi, tension?
3. full multi, What multi, tension?

Somebody mentioned in another thread multifeel should be good transition multi from poly. Any other suggestions...

Thanks in advance,
GTI

I probably mentioned MultiFeel, but there is also Head Rip Control which would probably play similar.

If you are recovering from TE I would suggest splurging for a set of Bab Tonic+ and use that until the pain is gone. Try the FlexBar exercise as well.

Good luck with the elbow!

End of last year signs of TE coming back so I swapped to a full syn gut. Didn't like it. Full multi? Didn't like it. I currently use Black code mains and Multifeel crosses. 50/54 lbs mains/crosses. Love it and it's soft, and durable enough if you string your own.

Start with Gosen Polylon SP 17 main @ 53lb and Og Micro 17 cross @ 56lb

Go ahead and try that. Usually you don't have to take tension recommendations from others since you already have a tension preference ingrained in you.

Give the Technifibre Promix 1.25 a try. It's a personal favorite. You might like it. It's a nice therapeutic multi/poly especially for those with shoulder and elbow problems.

I second that. I currently use a poly/gut blend, but Promix is good on the arm too.

I have had shoulder issues for months, i recently have begun to play again and seem to do fine with Black Code or Hyperion mains and NRG2 crosses, a very soft multi. Also playability is super.

Yes I know my preferred poly tensions (around 24kg mains/23kg cross) but I assume it's not same with full/hybrid multis. Maybe I'm wrong...?

Thanks for your recommendations, keep going please!

After your posts and my further investigatiions I believe I start experimenting with multi crosses and black code mains.

My multi cross choices until now:
1. NRG2
2. Promix or Multifeel

What else?

Should I start multi crosses with same tension than poly mains or little bit tighter crosses due to increased power in multi?

Did you try same tensions in mains/crosses with BC/multifeel? If yes, how was it feeling?

ps. I still own leaded kpro open, not anymore my primary frame but played one year with it. Did like it a lot but had some issues with beam thickness. And my THBH. Could be timing error due to low sw and also always had odd feeling sweetspot was too low. Maybe extended and litlle bit thinner beam it could be my current frame ;) Have you played with blx open? Powermap says it is more powerful, is sweetspot higher? comfort?

If I understand your question correctly, my advice to you is not to change the tension on your multi crosses. The general rule of thumb you should follow is to to introduce only one set up change at a time.

First figure out what poly main and tension you are comfortable with. until you land on that, keep the same tension on your multi-crosses that you've been using up to now.

Good luck with your experimenting!
