Full specs of IG Prestige/radical

Lucky I paid a visit to my local tennis retailer, pleased to see a full pile of catalogs - namely, " Head Tennis 2012".

First few pages largely depicts the new IG Prestige/Radical marketing material, with the new PJs. I must say there aren't much difference with their new designs, only some more bold/active graphics besides solid red/orange and black colors, not inverted like the Speeds and the Extremes. I'll find somewhere to up a few pics if you guys like to see them.

As for the specs, of course, not much difference either. Some slight changes and a few additions. Here are those:

No difference in Prestige Pro (still alive)/Mid/MP
Specs for the new Prestige S:
Beam 22mm
Head size 98 sq in
Weight unstrung 10.8 oz
Balance unstrung 1" headlight
Length 27"
Grip hydrosorb
String pattern 16/19
Swing style L3

For the Radicals, no difference spotted in MP/OS/Lite, however, they have changed the headsize/weight/balance for the Pro:
Headsize from 100 sq in to 98 sq in
Weight unstrung from 11.1 to 10.9
Balance unstrung from 2/3" to 1" headlight
Others remain the same

There is another Radical S, specs:
Beam 23.5mm
Head size 100 sq in
Weight unstrung 9.9 oz
Balance unstrung 1" headlight
Length 27"
Grip hydrosorb
String pattern 16/19
Swing style L1

That's all for the while

I like the look of the prestige s, not because its lightweight but because there is a lot of room to customise it

I think that weights are pretty close to what they were which probably means that flex will be too.

Do you know if the radical pro is the same mold as th mp, just with different drilling for string pattern? I sure hope so...

Also, any idea when the rad pro will go on sale?

So the "S" model is basically another name for "Team"? As in Head Youtek IG Prestige Team?
This is really cool. Did you see any paintjobs on the catalog?

The thing that most intrigues me is if the Prestige S and the new Rad Pro are indeed listed at 98sqin head size, but like the others, are in actuality 95sqin.

If so, and the Prestige S is not stiffer than a MP, or at most the Pro, it would be a perfect opportunity for customization closer to a pro stock than any other thus far.

But since it is meant to be the "Team" version I could very well see it being stiffer, and already I see that it has a thicker beam which is not at all encouraging, but I shall hold out hope.

I really wish they would go back to the iRad mold for the Radicals I cant stand the current beam shape or I would be very excited at the prospect of a MP with a 16x19.

Thanks for info OP.

Of the three Heads with a leather grip only the Prestige Pro is left.

Saving money on cost and yet keeping the same price with lower quality.

It looks like the food industry in US, the ice cream containers a few years back were 1/2 gallon sizes and now they are 1.42L and more expensive, just another way to cut cost and make more profit, ripping off customers.

Economic reports show inflation and retailers don't have pricing pressure so they have to reduce costs where they can.

I always use overgrips and don't really care what's underneath and perhaps that's a pretty common approach with Head's customers.

I think it has more to do with the fact that Leather is not very popular. Most everyone I know uses synthetic. Most racquets have all most all synthetic. Including Yonex. So since Yonex does not offer a leather grip must be there way of cutting costs and having lower quality.

So there is going to be five radicals and five prestiges???

i want to try the prestige S, it looks similar to the radical mp that i use now just a little heavier which could help a lot. also it seems like they have toned down the radical pro and made it lighter and a smaller headsize which could also be to my liking! im gonna demo the radical pro and mp, and the prestige S. in the end im probably just going to update my radical mp though :)

Yuck! Is anyone else thinking, "It's time to stock up on the old ones..."

Edit: for the Bag-a-holics among us, looks like there won't be an Extreme bag range - replaced with Elite range. Also checkout the Prestige bags!

The Radical Pro looked interesting at SW 345 - I wonder if it's going to drop with the static weight drop. Not too many retail sticks with the 345 swingweight.

Show me a 2011/12 Yonex with a leather grip.

We will all be waiting for the link.

Looks the new Prestige S and Radical pro are closer in specs to the 'player's tweener' category like BB London/Gold99, which Head doesnt cover before. Hope the new Rad pro is close to a MP with 16x19 string pattern.

If you read again what I said, I meant cutting cost(leather grip) and keeping the same quality of the rest, which to me all Head rackets have lower quality than a few brands here and there.

Leather by itself doesn't make any racket better quality or lower quality, the quality is on the core, the materials.

But I read a couple of thread yesterday in which many people were complaining about the paint coming off with lead altogether, so that may be a good quality right??

????
I'd say as well leather isn't very popular nowadays, I don't mind not having it, but I like it on my old rackets.

Most of that massive SW on the YT version came from the 33.7cm strung balance. I'm glad to see the leather gone; I used it on the Rad and Prestige Pro but prefer the synthetic for the hot southern summer: the og's soak through and it takes forever for the leather to dry.

This is a reversion back to the specs of the MG Rad Pro which was a great stick. I can't wait to give these a go. The feel of the youtek version combined with the sick stick speed of the MG

Oh no the paint came off my racquet!!! That must mean it's crap, it can't mean that I :

Abused it
Scraped it digging out a shot
Am OCD about nonsense.

The paint is not coming off it is a decal at the inside of the hoop. Second people have complained for years how Yonex paint comes off when they remove their lead tape. So that just goes to show how great Yonex quality is right.

If the paint is coming off with lead, yes, it is lower paint quality, however I didn't mention only about the lower paint quality, but the overall product.
For me HEAD rackets are for Styrofoam cup as Yonex,Volkl, Pacific are for real glass.
I have put lead in every place in my rackets on and off I never had any problems with paint coming off on any racket and I didn't see thread concerning paint with dozens off people complaining about it, sorry if it bothers you.

I have never ever had paint come off of my HEAD frames. I have seen cosmetics come off of Yonex frames form removing lead. What bothers me is your ignorance and how you confuse opinion and fact.

vsbabolat, you realize you're arguing against a poster who calls himself Buckethead (quite appropriately I might add) ;)

Should be 309g unstrung + 16g for full poly + 5g for og = 330g strung
unstrung balance is 32cm so strung should be roughly 32.9cm or 33cm....same as an apdgt

The YT version was 312g unstrung with the bare leather grip and strung balance was 33.7cm (!!!)

Thank you. 4 points headlight and 11.6oz fully dressed sounds like nice specs that isnt too demanding (well see about the power level, but I thought the youtek rad MP has good pop for its specs).

anyone know what most places ex. ******* sports and tennis warehouse are going to drop the old prestiges to?

My Local pro shop has already dropped Prestige prices to around 150 bucks, and it will probably go as low as 130 once the new line comes out. The Rad Pro has been on sale for 120 bucks for 5-6 months already I think. I can only imagine how low it's going to go once the new line comes out.

I'm eagerly awaiting how soon and how low the respectable Canadian online seller Rak-kit Guy will drop his YT Prestiges.

Thats Because Head just got finished running a 4 and 1 special for dealers, usually its 6 and 1 on new frames, guess they were trying to clear out inventory...Smart shops stocked up and sold cheap...

Sorry, I'm not in the retail tennis biz...What does the poster mean by the above comment?

My guess is that they get a great deal on the fifth frame if they sell four or maybe they get the fifth for free. This is compared to getting a great deal or one for free after selling six frames.

Took marketing (and worked in a marketing group) a long time ago.
