Is this guy still around, and is that for real, and are we talking about the Head Vilas racquets or the later larger head (Slazenger) racquets, or something even later? 30 kg works out to 66 pounds.
I have been trying to get a handle on what feels like a good tension for my Vilas racquets (I have a bunch of them, I love the guy!) and have strung them up with gut as high as 70 lbs (they can take it if in good shape). Anywhere 62-70 feels pretty "boardy" even with gut but for me anyway - certainly not Guillermo - 55 to 60 seems to be the real sweet spot with these.
I have been wondering for years if anyone has actual knowledge of the tension of his head racquets for those few years he was using them. They are spectacular racquets.
Ah. Didn't know what that was referencing (not too up on modern racquets). If you read the first post it was the LiquidMetal Instinct MP.
If you watch the documentary 'Settling the Score' on Netflix, some of the most current footage (at the time of filming) of him certainly seems to indicate this, unfortunately. They kind of dance around it a bit but never really come out and discuss it. There was a very recent bit of a brouhaha around something his wife put up on some social media, too, which also seems to indicate that he is doing poorly.Anyone know how Vilas is going? I think I heard he was battling dementia but I might be wrong.
Yes, I did watch this. I really felt for him - he looked and felt very lost.If you watch the documentary 'Settling the Score' on Netflix, some of the most current footage (at the time of filming) of him certainly seems to indicate this, unfortunately.
