A leather grip typically adds 10-12g, Fairway is one of the heaviest. I was thinking of adding a bit thinner and lighter leather grip to my Radical Pro, just out of curiosity. The feel of the retail Hydrosorb Pro is not defined enough for my taste. Yonex and Wilson both have thinner and better defined retail base grips, I was thinking of trying that too.

If you guys love the pro, you should try the MP with a leather grip. IMO it plays like a better version of the pro. Increased stability (especially at net and against heavy hitters) and more oomph on the serve. It's also easier to swing and has more power but control is still excellent. It really transforms the racquet.
Have you tried the Rad Pro? Why do you think the MP offers a bigger serve?

Oh I don't mean to say that it hits a better serve per se, but adding the leather grip helps hit a bigger serve because there's more mass behind the ball. I just think the MP is a tad bit easier to use and generate more power.

Tried the 2021 Rad MP this past week and I'm not getting all the praise that the TW review crew is giving it. To me, it plays exactly like prior iterations and still needs lead tape at 3/9 to stabilize the hoop. It feels "pingy" on contact and plays pretty well, but compared to my 360+ Speed Pro, there's no contest which I would rather hit with. The Speed Pro feels more solid and and not pingy at all and IMO is no harder to use.

Seems almost as if you should have demoed the Radical Pro instead lol....

Tried the Pro with Lynx Tour.... had previously tried the MP with Lynx tour and enjoyed it. The pro..... not so much. The pro had better specs (closer to what I use) but just didn't perform. Poorer directional control and very low launch angle. Stiffness was also much higher than I recall and while crisp I didn't enjoy its "feel"... Also felt like small sweet spot. From what I recall, the difference is pretty great between the MP and Pro but not sure why.... Power levels different too.

I had a similar experience with the pro, haven’t hit the mp. Especially the small sweet spot for such a high SW.

On TWU website Radical MP and Pro have good sweestpot. MP have almost same sweetspot as Gravity Tour, i cant believe how that is possible.
Yea unfortunately numbers don’t always tell the whole story. QC/Strings/tension etc can all have an impact.

Yeah I would definitely say it has a smaller sweetspot than the gravity tour. But playing next to my Vcore 95 I can definitely notice a larger sweet spot with the radical. If you’re coming from a 100 sq in like a pure drive than you’ll notice the small sweet spot without a doubt. I have been in the Vcore 97 HD, Vcore 95, and blade v7 realm and I would say the order of the sweet spot size is
Radical = Blade > Vcore HD > Vcore 95. Could argue that the blade is a hair larger but they are essentially the same from my experience.

Can you compare Gravity Tour and Radical MP power level/launch angle?

Interesting post/comparisons. I'm currently hitting with the vCore 95 and also have hit with the Blade MP 18m. Maybe the Pro is something to consider to demo.

yesterday i tried the gravity tour for the first time, currently using the blade 18x20 countervail, the blade have the same balance and weight as the mp but different string pattern and beam thickness so i dont know if this could give you a reference. Definitely the tour has more power, not an abysmal difference but if I could feel it when i swing my forehand as always and the ball was going deeper, so I had to adjust the swing a little. I've only been hitting with gravity for one session but my first impressions were not the best, my blade feels much more solid in the hits, and I could hit with greater confidence both my forehand and my backhand, I like to accelerate my swings and attack the ball and with the gravity i not felt the confidence that the blade gives me. I'll give gravity a couple more weeks, I don't know if the feeling will improve, I don't know if this feeling of solidity has to do with the stiffness of the racket (65 in the blade vs 61 in the gravity) or the materials, i dont know, both are control rackets, maybe it can also be the string, since in gravity I have lynx tour at 48 pounds and in the blade hyperg at 45 pounds. Or maybe it's just the feel that Wilson racquets deliver in general, a more solid feel, a "better build quality" sensation.

Anyone hit with the Radical MP and the Pure Strike 2nd gen 16X19? How powerful is the Radical MP? Does it have clean/crisp feel?

I would definitely give it a try. My biggest gripe is that Head grip pallets honestly suck haha. Yonex grips are longer and more rectangular which I absolutely love for my 2hbh. Ideally I would replace the pallet, but seems like too much work and I can eventually adjust...

The current Head line up has the TK82S pallets which are more on the round side compared to the older rectangular shape that some people didn't like. Changing out the pallet is fairly straight forward once you get to do a couple or see a good tutorial. I'm not sure about the length on the new radicals if it suites a 2hbh or not. I know with my Wilson Ultra Tour it was annoying my friend who has a 2hbh.

If I manage to find the time, I'll post some thoughts on comparative performance from my two days hitting with both sticks over the weekend. Given similarity in specs and both racquets positioned at 400 on HEAD's CPI chart, there are likely to be a fair number of players who will be looking to test both before deciding which one works better for them. The quick answer is that each is an excellent stick in its own right with great feel. However, they play sufficiently differently that I wouldn't switch between them mid-match.

Finally got round to writing my comparative playtest of the 360+ Radical MP vs 360+ Gravity MP.

Just received my radical pro 5/8 with Tour Bite 17g at 53lbs. I haven't used a head racquet since my dad bought me a prestrung head with the neon rainbow strings in the early 90s. The hydrosorb pro is a really comfy grip. Prior to this racquet, I had two yonex racquets at 5/8, I always needed an overgip. Looks like I don't with this radical pro, so that's nice. I don't see replacement hydrosorb pros with the cool gray color, maybe later.

I look forward to giving this racquet a go this weekend. Also, the color is isn't a tangerine or navel orange shade of orange like a lot of bad photos and videos show. It's like reddish neon orange. Might be turning people off, unless they see it in person.

I wonder where Wilson got their idea for this paintjob. It’s smart though, for those who liked that prototype paintjob now it’s in clash form, win win?

Well I played with new Radical grey demo for a week or so, and it looked slightly bland, it needed some more design elements on it. Such as orange grommets?

Or if they took those light grey grommets, and put them onto the brighter-than-a-supernova orange racquets..

I have now played with my rad pro 2x now and I absolutely love it. Tour Bite 17g at 53lbs was a little boardy, 5 hours in feels better so will string at 50 next time. Came in on spec too, with an overgrip and dampener, it's 12oz. Perfect racquet for an all court player. Also like I can get the racquet in 5/8 grip, which is becoming exceedingly scarce.

Anyone able to compare the radical mp with an ezone 100?
Radical MP has more control, less power, better touch and feel. Needs customization like a leather grip and lead at 12 to have more plow and pop. The Ezone 100 (I've played with DR100 and 2020 100) is easier to play with if you want more access to power without modifications. Much more power and spin in the Ezone 100 with less effort. Ezone can get pushed around against heavy hitters and big serves unless you increase the weight, but look at players like Casper Ruud and they can have great results with an Ezone 100.

I've been playing with with a Dr 100 with lead tape at 3 & 9 for 5 years and I'm thinking of switching to the Radical MP 2021. I spent a week demoing it. It was an easy transition for me as it seems like the Radical is wider than most other 98 inch size racket. They actually feel a little similar in term of ball pocketing and vibration. For comparison, I struggled to transition to the new ezone 98 2020 or the Vcore 98 which I found surprising. You get less spin and power but it's more stable and better control. When you hit a good shot with it, you really notice it with the loud noise. Easier to hit flat shot and return serve. Volleys more crisp as you would expect. I think I serve harder with my Dr 100 too but it's been really windy and I'm struggling with my toss. One other thing, the handle shapes are really different. It's more square on the Radical and it's smaller. It feels a bit weird at first but it doesn't bother me after awhile. Also I think the Ezone Dr 100 is more flexible than the latest 2 ezone 100.

I see, currently im endorsing the gravity tour and the wilson blade countervail 18x20 but the last week ive been testing my fathers ezone 100 (2017, green with black version) and man what a big surprise, im mostly an agressive baseliner, and this racquet allows me to hit more winners and achieve more big serves, but sometimes i think that is too much power, and its quite stiff, no feedback at all, so i was thinking about this radical mp

That ezone 2017 is stiffer and feels different compared to the new ezone 2020 which is more similar to the DR100 2015 I've read. But yea, you should give the Radical MP a try for sure.

I'm currently mixing in the new Radical MP.

Other sticks in my bag:
blade 16x19 v7
extreme mp - put a few grams in handle to make it 33cm / 4pt HL and it is a powerful yet controllable, plush, more comfy Pure Aero for me.
vcore 98 (2021)

The Radical is string sensitive IMO
string bed is quite dense in the middle, seriously dense. very much a control frame.
and so, it is good at low tension. I am currently at 51/50 to get a little more pop from it.
I may try 50/49 next actually.

I'm playing with 19 gauge cyclone, which is firm but not terrible on the arm
this makes it more headlight, I haven't made any other mods.
I did get one that is close to spec though, which is something I always do.

spec is 300 / 32 unstrung

my first and only copy is:
301 / 31.9 with plastic on handle
299 / 32 no plastic
312 / 32.8 strung with 19g
317 / 32.6 with OG

I didn't like it at 52/51
after a few hits at 51/50, I have been gelling with it a bit
the thick width of the beam is different for me. I've never seen one like this before.
it still moves through the air well.
I don't feel any pocketing, like with my extreme mp which has spin grommets

I'm not a slicer, but with this stick, I am now! nice feel and confidence inspiring.
pretty good plow/stability for me, vs. a heavy 4.5 ball.
I'm amazed how it can dig up low balls.

I think the main take aways from the radical mp are
1. control
2. pop when you need it, more than a blade
3. you can hit flat and you can hit spin - so you can really mix it up and play a variety of styles!
4. pretty good stability!
5. comfort seems ok, with it's ra of 65, but it doesn't feel super plush.

I wonder if going with a 2lb differential will improve pocketing and add a more plush feel.
so for eg: instead of 51/50, maybe I'll do 51/49 next.
I'm fairly happy overall.

Been play testing the radical MP and it’s one of the nicer playing sticks all around I’ve not in a long time. Very impressed

I've been playing with the radical pro for the past month, and it really is a great combo of control and just enough power. Tour bite 17g has been good so far. No arm problems like that ezone tour.
