I would not think it would be hard to find out if matches on average are longer than 20 years ago. Oddly regardless they are shorter cause men only play five sets at slams now. They use to play five sets everywhere. Or almost everywhere.

Faster grass changes things a lot. It is harder to hit topspin on a shot that is bouncing lower and skidding.
