I now have a gamma 6004 2 point mounting and ill be buying a wise 2086 head . i searched a lot and id like to know from owners with the same configuration - is the adapter a must buy or can I go without using the adapter .

im used to stringing and love the 360 degrees rotation available -but with the adapter I know the 360 rotation will be gone .
I wanna ask from owners how u go about with yours and share experiences .

tnx a lot .

The 6004 works with or without the Gamma adapter.

The main upside of the adapter is that it brings the tension head very close to level with your grommets, which minimizes string deflection (and thus friction) when pulling through them.

The limitations are no 360 degree rotation, which never bothered me, and awkward pulls from the strings inside the throat at 6 o'clock. For that last reason, I preferred to use the Wise without the adapter.

thnx seekay , so u don't use the adapter with he 6004 , do u have to adjust tension on the mains by throat at six oclock to compensate for the friction ?

I have the 2 pt 6004, Diablo, adapter, and Wise. When I bought the adapter, I just assumed it was a requirement for Gammas. You do lose 360 rotation, but it seems to be a non issue for me.

360 rotation is a huge feature to have imo. Makes the stringing flow much smoother and comfortable. Easily worth the couple bucks you'll spend on it.

If you really want to save every penny you can, you could also make your own adapter for like 15-20$. I made my own for an older machine I had because I didn't think the Gamma Adapter was good for my machine. Bought an aluminium bar that was already the right size, drilled some holes into it, fixed it to my crank bar and installed the wise on it, it was perfect.

In my opinion, not getting 360 rotation when you can is foolish, but then again, I string hundreds of rackets every year. Someone who does one every month might not care about it.

I saw a post at the badminton forums about an aluminum bar , drilled holes and suits the gamma 6004 but yes as u mentioned I have to gtet the right bar , measure , drill holes .

I strung without 360 rotation for so long now that I have it back I still don't use it sometimes. It is not a big deal. If I had the Diablo I would never have got the Diablo but neither were options when I got my wise. The adapter was the first solution to the problem created putting a Wise on a Gamma.

Without the adapter, the string angles down and clears the frame, so the angle is the same as it is on the top of the racquet. I don't think any tension adjustment is required.

With the adapter, the string will rub on the frame, and some tension will be lost. It's debatable whether that warrants a tension increase; I never increased tension on those pulls.

I used the adapter for a few years, and then took it off on a whim. I never saw much need to put it back on. I'd like shorter adapter, like @yan.v suggested, but never got around to having one made. I've since replaced the machine and its new owner runs it without the Gamma adapter.

I think you mean "if I had the diablo I would have never got the adapter...", right?

I have a 6004 with six point mounting system and was used to the 360 degree rotation before adding the Wise unit. I tried the adaptor but did not like the restricted movement so off it came. My Wise also came with a diablo and that is what I have been using.
