Its a little quiet in here so i thought it might be a good time to get things going in here again.

The ghost is out for me. I string for myself and cant justify the $2,800$

I tried to source the 1500 and thanks to some of my fellow stingers i was able to find one in England. Unfortunately adding shipping and the possibility of an import tax it might become an expensive endeavour.

I'm not in a super rush but getting a machine for christmas would be super but again not absolutely necessary. I could wait for tennis machines to restock.

So in the meantime and for ****s and giggles can you boys tell me if one machine is better than the other and why you would buy one over the other.

And are there other qualified machines that can be included in this comparison.

This has probably been covered in previous threads but i really didn't find anything , not that i looked back more than a few pages.

A little history about me, I've been stringing for 40+ years mostly for myself. First machine was a klippermate. It did the job and that's how i learned. A year later i bought an "H" and have had it for 35 yrs at least. It stills works like new. I did have to buy new clamps and do the normal preventive maintenance but the machine is a tank.

So gent's help me find another machine for a second home i just purchased.

    Thanks in advance
    Howard

Alpha Apex Speed might be worth considering, and it would save you some money.

I’ve never used a Neos but i own a Gamma 6004 (2 point mount) and like it very much. I’ve also owned an Alpha axis pro, 4000, and DC Plus in the past and consider the 6004 far superior in quality and functionality.

I know it doesn’t answer your question but thought i’d chime in anyways. Can’t hurt.

Axis Pro to gamma 6004 isn't a fair comparison … the axis pro lines up more with the 5003

Honestly, if I were you, and you were really keen on a 1500, I'd just go with the 6004 with self centering 2 point mounting. I love my NEOS 1500, but with the support and availability (including parts) for the Gamma, and the self centering mounts, that's what I would choose if I wanted a 2 point mount and was buying new. If I wanted a sweet machine with maximum bang for the buck, I'd definitely have a look at the aforementioned Alpha Apex Speed, which I've admittedly never had the opportunity to ever use, but I'm basing it on reputation, features, and what I've read.

Thanks for your feed back. The ALPHA APEX SPEED is also out of stock. Anyone else want to chime in.

But it is available. Why try to buy something that’s out of stock?

EDIT: If on the other hand you want an Apex Speed call New Tech Tennis tel:1-800-577-1916 and ask if it will be available and when.

So it looks like your choices are either wait for it to get in stock or spend $500 more and get a Gamma 6004 now.

If you are going to wait I suggest trying to communicate with Mark directly at Alpha.

Is the Gamma worth the $500 more ? Have you used the Alpha to compare to the 1500? I've never strung on the Alpha but just by looking at it I can't get over just looking at the uneven legs. What's with that ?

I wouldn’t compare an Alpha lockout with a 6004. If you want to save $500 look at the Gamma 5003.

I have to disagree with that, because the differences between the 5003 and the 6004 (clamp bases and 1 vs 2 dials for adjusting the arms) are the things I wish my stringer had. (I have a 5800ELS)

@gmatheis what are you disagreeing with that I would not compare the Alpha lockout to the 6004 or that he will also save $500 buying a 5003 vs a 6004?

    EDIT: Or both?

I'm not even sure I know Lol … I just wouldn't put the Gamma 5003 as an alternative to the Alpha Axis Speed because I think he would be disappointed with the same things that disappoint me on the Gamma 5800 ELS (The base clamps and the dual dials for the support arms)

@gmatheis first the OP wanted a 1500 but can’t get one in the US and did not want to get one out of the country. Someone suggest he save $500 with an Alpha Apex But again no stock in the US. I suggested a 6004 which is available but if he wants a $500 savings he may go for the 5003.

had the NEOS 1500, now stringing on a Revo 4000 which i believe is the same as the Axis Pro minus the stand. the Revo 4000 is a pretty good machine and this isn't a knock against the Alpha, but the NEOS 1500 just felt bulletproof. everything from stand, mounts, clamps, tensioner was solid. the Revo just doesnt feel as sturdy, but it gets the job done at a fraction of the cost. at the end of the day, i feel ok going with the Revo, but it's just not built like the NEOS. i too wanted the Ghost 2 but i just had no space for it.

Just curious why did you exchange the 1500 for the Revo 4000 ?

Space issues. I would never have sold my NEOS if i didnt have to. As much as i wanted a 6pt mounting system, i would certainly take the NEOS over the Revo long term.
