Gamma Progression 2 Clamp Issue?

Cleaned my clamps and gripper the other day using just some alcohol and now my clamps slip every time or explode off violently if I tighten too much...

Can't even pull the first main without the clamp being pulled into the frame towards the tensioner.

This is for both clamps which seems strange... Any idea what's going on? Didn't have this issue before.

@Yamin,

It certainly sounds like you must've used something other than isopropyl alcohol (mislabeled bottle perhaps??).

Check the clamp adjustment. Sounds like the clamps are too loose.

Does that require disassembly or is there a guide somewhere? Surely you don't mean just tightening them.. I cant get them any tighter and have the clamps close or stay closed.

Hit'um real quick with the blowtorch lol. I never used alcohol on mine, just pulled a rag a few times between them. Now that I think about it, the only time I've used alcohol on my own machine was to clean the glide bars on my neos 1000. We had an electronic alpha at work and cleaned regularly with alcohol and those clamps always slipped. We hardly strung anything other than Sensation or other slimy multifilaments, hence the coating on the clamps. Industrial strength vinegar might work. Available at HD cleaning isle. But then you'd have to deal with that awful smell. A firm toothbrush would help too.

I would have disassembled then to clean them. If they were too loose then yes tightening them was what I meant. @Gamma Tech suggests using WD40 to clean metal clamps. I’m not sure if that works on composite clamps also.

@Yamin alcohol evaporates quickly and the alcohol you have may have been contaminated. You could buy a new bottle and dissemble the clamps for a good cleaning. Or wait and see what @Gamma Tech may suggest.

Cleaned everything but still the issue persists. One side is slipping on both clamps. The clamp travels toward the tensioner when facing one way, and travels the other direction when facing the opposite...

The clamps seem to have relatively deep scores on one side pretty low into the clamp on both clamps. Perhaps a cleaning ended these? How many string jobs should clamps like these withstand? I can't say it has been more than 50.

@Yamin when did you purchase your machine? This may be an issue covered under our warranty. I would also like to see pictures of the scoring and a video of you pulling tension on the clamps if possible. Please email support@gammasports.com. Thanks!

So do you have a definitive answer? Any chance that the coating of some strings, which is what we mean to be cleaning off, created a solution with the alcohol and got even more distributed on the most prominent surfaces of the clamps?, and then not really removed?

Was the cloth you used free of any thing that could have remained behind?

The clamps were deeply scored. I just bought a new machine
