Considering the Gamma Progression II 602 FC. Any Gamma Progression II 602 FC owners out there that can validate my decision? Is there really a big difference between Gamma quality versus Alpha, or Eagnas? Price has very little, if anything, to do with my decision. I just want the highest quality drop weight machine.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

I had a 602 FC previously and the only main complaint I had was the rotational gripper was slightly more time consuming and string consuming than a linear gripper.

Also, I spent the extra money this time around for Alpha's three point clamps which are nicer than 5 points. Currently I have an Alpha Pioneer DC+ and its everything I ever wanted plus a little sticking on the gripper jaws. I may have to call about that if they don't wear in soon. I don't think there's a better dropweight made.

Although, if money was no object I would try out the Stringway MS 200 because the the foot operated tensioner looks interesting.

Own a 602FC for at least 9 years.

Quality is great. The machine is a tank. NEVER have had a problem with it and Gamma Tech (Bret) is an active forum contributor if you need help or have questions.

There is nothing wrong with a roatational/drum gripper.....NOTHING. Don't believe the less than positive comments....

Can't comment on Alpha or SP as I haven't owned on.

Would avoid Eagnas like the plague..... too many posts about less than helpful customer service to feel comfortable about them.

My $.02.

Ask as many questions about it as you like.... I'll do what I can to help.

rich :)

That's what I wanted to hear! I'm sold on the Gamma Pro II FC. Also, as other have suggested, the rotational/drum gripper is harsh on the strings. Can you please elaborate on this? Just want to confirm that it won't compromise the integrity of the string.

Again, your input is greatly appreciated.

I've strung natural gut with the 602FC and the rotational gripper and no issues..... I could see where poly's, because they are so wirey, might be a little tougher to wrap around the drum, but I've never had any string compromised because of the rotational gripper.

Just got my Gamma Pro II 602 FC today. Rich S is absolutely correct, this thing is a freakin' tank! Every single part, down to the washer, is super high quality. This machine blows my old Eagnas Flex 940 out of the water. What a beast! Every part is three times bigger/thicker than my old eagnas: i.e. the turntable, frame support posts, frame shoulders, etc.

Literally, the dual action, diamond coated swivel string clamps with self locking adjustment knobs, are 3 times the size of Eagnas'. They operate so smoothly.

Worth it's weight in gold! It's just not possible to build a higher quality stringing machine.
