gamma progression II FC/drop weight

Not easily since you will be missing the metal bar that supports the tensioner. When using this machine, especially with poly strings, start with the weight down and ratchet up to horizontal.

It is not possible to add the manual spring winder tensioner to the Progression drop weight machine. These are two completely different types of machines and the foot print of the base on the drop weight machines is not big enough to accept the support post, winder bar of the Progression ST II.

I have this machine and when stringing poly string I with weight up and drop down. What is the advantage of going the "opposite direction" with the rod. I am going to be upgrading to the Wise next paycheck, but I'm still curious.

When you start with the weight down, you don't have to guess about how much slack is needed to let the bar come down to horizontal. You just ratchet the weight up until the bar is horizontal.

Poly is a stiff string and does not stretch as much as other synthetics. If the bar is up when you start the string may not stretch far enough to get the bar to level. If the bar is down you can lift it just above level and continue in small steps until the bar is level.

Ahhh, I always start at a place where I know it'll drop below level. Then I hold the ratchet and get to level. All the ratchet squeezing does give me TE, hence the Wise..

While watching myself string in the mirror last night I realized I do ratchet up as I bring the bar to level, just never thought of it that way...

It is very, very hard to squeeze the ratchet when the bar is at or below horizontal.
I raise the bar to at least 2 o'clock before I squeeze the ratchet.
The closer you raise the bar to 12 o'clock, the easier it is to squeeze the ratchet.

I use a DW tensioner, Gamma X6FC.
