to adjust the angle of the v-posts or shoulders contacting the racquet.

Look under the posts and notice the wheel/knob

Got it. Not that big a deal for me. I just string my own racquets so set once and leave. Thanks for explaining.

Alright folks. Replying back to this awesome thread. I've strung about a dozen racquets so far with my Gamma Progression II ELS. I love it. More importantly, my son loves the end result. And since he's 15 now and really starting to break strings it's becoming really convenient to have the ability to string at a moment's notice. We didn't have anywhere natural to put the stringer so I just bought the Harbor Cart too :)

PS: When I opened the stringer in January there wasn't any smell. Glad for that!

Sweet. These machines are stellar. Good call on the cart too. I made some DIY reel holders to hang on the cart handle, will post pics tomorrow.

Just wanted to chime in that it's been about three years now since I purchased my Gamma X-ELS (Red) stringer. It has surpassed all my expectations and I've never had one minor or major problem with it. Best of all, it's allowed me to experiment with many different string set ups as well as tensions. Since I have some arm problems due to arthritis, I have been able to use RPM Blast at super low tensions (39M/42C) and it has significantly improved my game. I know, I know, many here will say RPM Blast will ruin your arm, but at low tensions I find it very comfortable. Also, like many other poly strings, I put in a new fresh string job of RPM Blast after every 4 to 6 hours (strings will go dead and your arm will pay the price). I am able to play with a full string bed of poly with zero discomfort. None of this would have been possible if I didn't own my own machine. The only negative of stringing your own racquets is that you'll spend a lot of money experimenting with different set ups. But eventually that "negative" becomes a positive once you settle on what works best for you, just buy a reel and you'll eventually pay off the machine instead of constantly buying single packets, drive to the stringer and pay much more. I restring my racquets at least twice a month. That saves me about $30 in labor and a few bucks by being able to lower the cost of the strings by buying a reel......so say I save $35 a month. $35 X 12 = $420 annual. In less than three years I have paid the machine off.

Special thanks to Andl for his excellent review and Herb for his super YouTube videos that coached me through the learning process and save me money from hiring a tutor :)

A question for all ELS owners - when the motor is fine adjusting (after it reached the desired tension)... what kind of sound does it make then?

I have a machine here and the sound is "grinding-ish" after the beep. Before you just hear the motor rotating but with the fine-dosing it makes this awkward sound.. Is this normal?

My Wise made a sight grinding sound at one point. Lubed the screw that drives the tensioner and all is good.

I'd assume it is a similar screw driven type mechanism? Something is binding, even if a rotational gripper.

Open it up and have a look, can't hurt.

It is a crackling, grinding sound. Cant really locate it though. But once you clamp the string, it vanishes immediately.. really strange

Oh well, so this is not the regular sound of the machine - guess its time for the dealer / manufacturer to take care

Sounds like as it reaches tension you are hearing the racquet shifting slightly in the supports which is why it stops when you clamp the string.

Okay, nothing to worry with that sound. Looks like this a "regular" sound when fine-tuning the tension. Spoke to the dealer and tried two other models that were in the shop. All made the same sound when fine balancing the tension.

Guess my ears made it worse than it is...
