Gamma X-ST machine

Would someone here be so kind to post a video of his/her stringing job as a tutorial for me? I have the Gamma X-ST stringer but can use a refresher. I have searched for demo videos online but could not find one on the X-ST machine.

Thank you in advance for taking your time to make this video.

Just look for a video using any lockout machine. The NEOS is the most common machine out there and works just like the x-st except for the clamping.

Irvin has millions of videos, many using a gamma 6004, essentially the same as the x-st.

Rather than looking for Iavideo on how to use the stringing machine I suggest you look for a video on a racket like or similar to the one you will be stringing. What type racket will you be stringing and do you prefer one or two piece stringing?

I have a Gamma X-ST but I'm not making a video. Look at Irvin's suggestions and maybe look for an example of a lock out machine.

I just got an x-st and when I was searching for videos for that specific model I couldn't find any either. However, watching other stringing videos was enough to figure it out. Also, it came with a little manual in the box which can also be downloaded online.

That manual was worthless but the videos online are more helpful. I completely forgot how to set it up and everything because I put it away for 7 years and now want to try again because I have people breaking strings every 2 weeks and that starting to be expensive. I may break a string every two years.

If you find something helpful, please share. Thanks

Not sure what you mean by setup, can't you expand? Let me ask again what racket are you stringing or better yet what pattern? Is it a 16 main racket or 18? Does the mains start in head or throat? How many crosses are ther? Do you use 1 or 2 piece stringing?

I am stringing the Junior Wilson BLX Pro 26. 16x19. I like to string it as one piece but the stringer has been doing it as two pieces. It had been such a long time since I strung the racket and I was not even proficient at it to begin with. It took me so long to string one that I stopped doing it. Now I don't even remember how to get going. That is my problem right now. When I finish with one again, then I can pick up from there.

Not a good racket for a beginner stringer but not such a big deal. The problem will be you're going to have two strings blocking a grommet hole and a long section of string outside the frame to tie off the short side. Do you have a starting clamp?

EDIT: Also is your racket a yellow racket? Count the number of mains in the throat is it 6 or 8?

Yes, it's a yellow racket. Not mine but that doesn't matter. I will be stringing it from now on to save money because the player breaks string every two weeks. The count of mains at the throat is 6.

I don't have a starting clamp. I have seen people use this on videos lately so I guess I better get one? Would you suggest good starting clamp? Thanks

That is not the one with the problems I spoke of and much easier to string. Without a starting clamp I would string that racket two piece. Just about any starting clamp but the consensious is the GSS is good bang for the buck.

To string your racket start with 19' of string for he mains. After centering the strings at the throat clamp one main inside the frame as near the center billiard as practical keep the string straight. Pull tension and clamps the first three mains one at a time on the other side (opposite the side with the clamp you used first.) Now tension and clamp the first six mains on the other side. Then the 4-6 mains on the side where you started. Stop there until you get the top three crosses pre ran.

Use 18' of string running in the top three crosses in grommet holes 7, 9, and 11.

Now tension and clamp the two outside mains on each side of the racket skipping grommet holes 7&9 top and bottom and tie off. Use a starting knot for the top cross and tension and clamp the first two crosses. Pre weave the fourth cross then tension and clamp the third. Continue down the racket pre weaving a cross one ahead then tension and clamp the one before the pre weave. When finished tie off the bottom cross.

DON'T USE A DOUBLE HALF HITCH. Learn either the Parnell or Wilson Pro knot. The Wion Pro knot is the easiest.

Thanks, I'll try again. I strung two rackets when I got the X-ST and each racket ended up taking me more than 1-1/2 hours. It was too long so I stopped doing it. But I believe I can improve my time markedly if I continue to use the stringer. If I can break 30 minutes per racket than I am happy with that. That is my goal anyway.

My guess is that the "GSS" stands for Gamma String Starting clamp?

No, actually GSS is Grand Slam Stringers, not the Gamma.
If you do a search here, for each of these starting clamps, you'll be able to read all the pros, cons & opinions on them.
