Gamma X2 - One Piece Stringing - Clamping Main

I own Gamma X2 Drop weight.
In one piece stringing, after stringing mains and tie a knot on short side main. Now my clamp is on the last main and starting do crosses...should I leave the clamp on the main until I finish all crosses or is it okay to just clamp the crosses

wondering if mains will loose tension if I dont clamp while doing crosses

After you tie off the main, there is no real reason to leave the clamp there. If you feel more secure, you could leave it there, but it no longer serves any purpose. And NO, you won't lose tension there except if you tie a bad knot, leave too much slack. The string is going to relax whether you leave the clamp there or not.

Why would you want to tie off the main? If you tie off the as main then yes it will loose tension unless you have some magic way to eliminate drawback. Then you need to string the crosses, how do you plant to keep tension on the first cross with flying clamps?

I'd offer a solution but not sure what your pattern is and where the mains start. In any case I would string the racket so the top and bottom crosses are the only strings tied off.

EDIT: You should also have a solution that eliminates any drawback, or it's no solution at all.

Irvin - This is how I have been doing please let me know if this doesn't sound right...

This is how, I have been doing with x2 drop weight
1. Mark 10 feet measurement for short side
2. clamp the middle two mains without tensioning (dont have startng clamp)
3. start tennisoning Mains from 2nd main on either sides
4. alternate stringing mains for every 2 mains
5. Once i get to last main on either side, I put a knot on the short side and leave the clamp on the other main
6. continue with crosses from tail side (mine is 16 * 19 with 6 holes at throat)
7. start tennioning from 2nd cross
8. i usally leave the clamp on main but just move it whenever it gets on way of doing crosses
9. use the other clamp for crosses
10. finish with the knot for crosses on the head side

Still not sure how you string your frame but here is how I would do it:

1- measure out 5.5 racket lengths for short side
2- string center 14 mains
3- use as tail to string top cross hold with flying clamp from ss on outside of frame
4- use tail of long side to string all crosses from 2-18 and tie off
5 - remove top cross and string ss outer main, bottom cross, las outer main, top cross and tie off

EDIT: After stringing once you can adjust lengths for your specific racket.

After pulling tension and clamping on the first 2 cross strings, remove the clamp from the last main string. As Esgee48 said , serves no purpose to leave it there and will probably just get in the way.

Remember, people say if you pull 2 mains or 2 cross strings at one time, one of them will not be at the desired tension.

If you know you loose tension when pulling two strings, why do it when you don't have to? If you know you're going to loose a lot of tension from draw ask and clamp twist tying off the mains with X2 clamps why do it when you don't have to?
