Gamma X2 or Klippermate

I am new to stringing and don't really know much about it at all. I want to start stringing my own racquets and can't decide between the Klippermate and the Gamma X2.

Which stringer would be better for begginers and that will also do a good stringing job?

Happy with my KlipperMate

Like you, never strung before, bought my klippermate off their site for $135 ("blemished" model with no blemish whatsoever) and had a very easy time following the instructions that came with it. Clear pictures, all very logical - the machine is very sturdy, well built (here in US) and real simple to use. My 11 year old son strung his racket right after I've done mine with minimal help from me. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

You can get the X-1 for $135 shipped... Without blemishes. It comes with all the tools and some string, just like the Kllipermate.

It really has a quality look and feel to it. There is a Gamma rep and a ton of owners all over the board.

The instructions with the Klippermate are better, I don't think too many people will argue that. The Gamma does come with a stringers guide though which is extremely useful. It goes into great detail about stringing, installing grommets, and knots.

Supposedly Gamma is going to update their manual

I guess you really can't go wrong with either one. I just like the cost and look of the Gamma a little more...

Check out the Alpha String Pal (NewTechTennis). It is a solid basic stringer with some features the others do not have. Also, it should be about the least expensive solid entry level stringer.

I've got the SP Swing, but if I had to choose between the two you're considering, I'd go with the X-2 because of the clutch (actually a ratchet on the X-2, isn't it?). The Alpha String Pal also looks good at that price level, although I haven't seen much feedback from folks who have one.
