Gasquet is the most overrated player of all time!

Wasn't that the tournament after Sydney? Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what happened. Gulbis played like crap that day too and still managed to win.

Gulbis is a very dangerous and talented player. He is not a deluded 30 y.o. American journeman who never made slam SF. No shame in losing to him on a particular day.

Djokovic lost 6-4, 6-4 to the highly overrated Latvian Legend, Ernest Gulbis who can do nothing but hit the ball hard. Please. That's absolutely pitiful. No one inside the top 5 today (except Djokovic) would ever lose to Ernest Gulbis. In fact, Gulbis played 200% better in his match against Roddick and STILL lost.

Blake has made it as high as #4 in the World. Gulbis hasnt made it past the 2nd round of something like 20 tournaments this year. Gulbis can only wish someday he is even as good as Blake the way things are looking now.

Which goes to show you that Djokovic is simply not as good as a player many people make him out to be. He had some very fortunate circumstances for that first slam.

You're right. But how about that 28 yo Finnish journeman Djokovic lost to this yr, who's never made a slam SF? What about him? :D

I can't believe you are still using that same excuse gj011. Roddick simply tooled Djokovic. And he did it again at Indian Wells.

And no, it was indeed measured cooler during the Roddick/Djokovic match. What ESPN used was the ground temperature; the air temperature was not high enough in order for them to close the roof. However, the next day it was. This is all backed up by facts, so don't even argue. Also it cannot be 50 degree heat because the ball boys/girls/lines people/audience would have died simply within 20-30 minutes. In fact, I am nearly 100% sure anyone even attempting to play in 50 degree Celsius heat would die of a heat stroke.

The temperature for Serena match next day was slightly cooler than the Djokovic match - that much has been proven already. I can't believe you have the nerve to argue this point at all. Roddick is a tool - he proved that with his bitter comments after Novak schooled him at USO.

Serena is a great champion and one of the most important figures in tennis the last couple decades. Djokovic is a talentless hack who fluked his way into one lucky slam, and who is something next to irrelevant in the tennis World. See the difference: Great Champion >>> unimportant talentless hack. Thus the great champion Mrs. 11 slams Williams is deserving of some compensation in certain situations, she has more than earnt it with her greatness and her neccesity to the sport, while the talentless hack who lucked his way into a fluke slam has done nothing to earn such consideration. Maybe he should grow a set of balls and stop quitting like a little girl whenever it is hot, or he is tired, or he is losing, and he might rise above the level of talentless hack where he now currently resides. :)

That is kinda harsh. Champions shouldnt recieve superior treatment on court. I think the roof should have been closed but it wasnt and even that is fine. Roddick seemed like he could play 10 hrs in that heat, Nole's conditioning is simply awful.

Although Djokovic ground to a standstill in the fourth set of his quarter-final against Roddick yesterday, the heat was not considered a factor. “We had a sea breeze that picked up during the day and the temperature on court was just 25,” McKewen said. “At the airport [some 15 miles north], it was 35. Every decision we take is with the safety of everyone in mind, the ballkids and linespeople as much as the players. They are athletes who train for these conditions, but ballkids and linespeople don't. I take every decision in consultation with our chief medical officer. We are expecting very high temperatures in the next few days but almost no humidity to speak of.”

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/tennis/article5596127.ece

The temperature reached 43C yesterday, creating a desert-like haze across the blue Plexicushion courts. Dead moths, mirages and malfunctioning, summer-blasted tennis players – this was an astonishing day at the Australian Open.

Unless you are saying the tournament director is lying and risking the lives of not only the players, but the lines people, staff, and audience. In fact, you pulling 50 degrees Celsius is total bullcrap because the highest recorded temperature ever in Australia was 50 in the middle of the desert.

He's Serena-worshiping troll, and a Nole-hater. Don't worry about him - think about your Roddick worshiping instead.

A. You are gj011, no doubt about it.
B. Roddick beat Djokovic fair and square, twice. Get over it.
C. You were just proven wrong. In fact, all the articles I read say that Djokovic retired with the temperature around 35-36 Celsius, which is below the 38 degree mark that they normally use to close the roof.

Unless they were upright, honest Serbian publications and not dirty, cheating, lying American ones, he probably won't believe them.

A. Your vtmike account was a failure - there is no doubt about that now anymore.
B. Roddick is a cheating lying scumbag who tries to manipulate the media and the crowd. He will never get over his USO loss to Novak.
C. Djokovic retired in 50+ heat with his breathing problem. Serena got the roof closed in a heartbeat in lesser heat the next day. Federer was never scheduled to play in the heat. Quite a shaft job in the mens singles defending champion. The stain of shame will never be washed off from the lying schemeing bunch of the AO tournament organizers and the ATP.

not to speak for another poster, but i personally think that being an inch away from winning the most coveted tourny in the world is clearly an indication that he put the past behind him.

i like nole, and i can guarantee you that he probably isn't losing sleep over a few comments---roddick as well, although granted novak didn't react very well on the spot (last years court-side interview). but can't you just let it go? or will a few comments continue to rub you the wrong way?

A. Keep it up. If I was vtmike I would have been banned by now because I don't proxy or cover traces of my ip address.

B. Roddick is 2-0 against Novak this year; I'm sure he's well over that loss. In fact, I fear for your man Djokovic since he is in danger of dropping out of the top 5 if he doesn't not defend his HC points and TMC points.

C. It was not 50+ degrees Celsius. The hottest ever recorded air temperature was 50.4 degrees Celsius in Australia. The surface temperature does not affect air temperature much because most of the heat dissipates into this large thing called the atmosphere, therefore not raising the temperature much if at all.

D. Please feel free to accuse me and any other poster here of being a racist again. I really did enjoy that conversation.

Again, ignore my evidence more. Show evidence that it was over 50+ degrees Celsius for the AIR TEMPERATURE (the temperature that actually matters).

Also, Novak had medical treatment and surgery to fix his breathing problem. He is in fact not affected by this problem at all. He has never used this excuse once since that surgery, because it simply doesn't exist anymore.

Edit : Get scared there gj011? Where'd you go? Where's that evidence that it was 50+ degrees Celsius? Huh? You can't find it? Wait, where are you in the first place? :( I was just beginning to enjoy this conversation.

He is consistently getting beat by players outside the top 10 now, and is routinely losing to nearly everyone inside the top 5. In fact, his two wins posted over Federer this season are essentially hollow because he caught Federer in the biggest funk of his career. And still, Federer had chances to win both matches.

In fact, he got some of the most spectacularly easy slam draws a player could ask for, and in consecutive years too. How he managed to get those draws is absolutely beyond me, but he is simply not a top 5 player. In fact, he has far more points to defend than either Roddick or Del Potro due to his TMC + HC points, and unless he picks up the pace, he's going to drop like a rock come the end of the year.

Yes but Gasquet is a top 5 player, right?

you dont have to use a proxy IP address. You can just make new accounts by uninstalling/installing the same web browser, you just have to make sure you dont import anything. Or you can download another web browser. Another way is to just delete all of your history - cookies, websites. :)

So what you're saying is only Djokovic is subsceptible to the temperature, not his opponent.

Don't compare to Serena. THey're women. If they had equal playing conditions as men they'd be going 5 sets.

A. No further comment is needed on your shenanigans around here. Amazing how every time you start with your libelous tirades there is a clowd of low-postcount users buzzing around the thread cheering you on. They look oh so fresh and green, but don't sound so fresh usually. I wonder why that is. And you clever computer networking jargon is hardly convincing - proves the opposite, if anything.

B. Roddick has had an amazingly lucky season so far. Djokovic has been going through a rough patch. Still, Novak is well ahead in the rankings. That shows you how much superior he is a player.

C. That claim is simply beyond ridiculous. Do you not know that temperature readings under the sun exceed shade readings by 20 degrees or more? You are clearly losing it now - that is already obvious.

D. Aren't you always the one to stir trouble and provoke other posters. You are proving it here once again.

E. Your insinuations are getting old and uninteresting already. I know you like to run away when you lose an argument or your hypocricy is exposed. Don't presume that others are cowards like yourself. Some of us are often busy with important meetings to attend.

Stop lying.

I'm not fresh and green. We all know you're gj011. And you've still yet to show where you get +50C from. Where is it?

He (Djokovic) slung a bag of ice around his neck to try and cool down as the temperature climbed to 36 degrees Celsius and asked the trainer to massage his legs, neck and shoulders.

http://uk.reuters.com/article/idUKLR10629220090127

So now we bring in trashy British tabloids to support a case that is falling apart. Desperate times for the Serena and Roddick fanboys. 50+ temperatures in conjunction with documented breathing problems for the defending champion - and the ATP supervisor mysteriously refuses to close the roof. Stop this nonsense argument - the doubles standards and hypocricy are clear as day here.

If I'd edited my post, there would have been a timestamp there. Do the conversion. 107F = approx 42C.

And you've still yet to cite your 50C number. I'm waiting...

There were many credible insiders reporting true temperatures at the time. Quite a few have been silenced after the Serena controversy. Still, your 36 degree claim (from both JBF and NM accounts) does not fly - everyone knows it was at least over 40. Read this article and the comments. Some of the people clearly know what was going on.

Richard Gasquet is Godspeed Maverick...

For those who read in french, here's what Pamela (the girl who would have "contaminated" Richard) declared yesterday in the "Closer" mag :

In a few words: she didn't use cocaine, Gasquet stoled her a kiss by pushing her against a wall, she doesn't care about tennis and didn't know him before, he came along without even being invited...

Ouch !
