There were once alot of expectations on Richard Gasquet. However he has been passed by not only by Nadal who was born within a week or so of him, but by guys born the year after like Djokovic and Murray, and not even younger guys than that like Del Potro and Cilic. Will he ever win a Slam singles title?

Unless the ATP retroactively decides Mumbai, India 2007 was a "slam", Gasquet will have to be content with his mixed doubles 'slam' title at the French in 2004.

He could go to sleep one night hoping to wake up with a vagina, then maybe he will win a singles slam.

Gasquet still has plenty of years to try and get it together. If he was able to finally get his head under control, and just start performing like he did way back when, he's good enough to do it. But that being said, he's good enough, but just doesn't have the mental game (and probably tennis game at the moment) to pull it off.

If he could play like he did in '05 against Roger Federer at Monte Carlo, or '07 against Roddick at Wimbledon, then he's got a shot.

You say play like he did "way back then" but the tennis he played way back then was only good enough to get past the 4th round of a slam once, and not enough to even win a Masters title. The field has only improved since back then. So the tennis he played back then wouldnt be nearly good enough to win a slam, he would have to reach a much higher level still.

Playing like he did vs Roddick at Wimbledon? Yes one of his best performances, yet he was still very close to losing that match in 3 straight sets, and that was Roddick who himself hasnt been good enough to win a slam in the last over 6 years. If you care to mention of Roddick nearly winning Wimbledon last year, Roddick's level at Wimbledon 2009 was atleast 2 whole levels higher than 2007. The tennis he played vs Federer at Monte Carlo to score one of his biggest wins ever after saving a match point, would still never win him a French Open with Del Potro, Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, and Davydenko all around. Again he would have to hit an even higher level of clay court tennis to win 3 or more best of 5 matches in a row vs guys like that.

No. Just no.

Even if gasquet plays like he did against Roddick at Wimbledon, chances he still won't make a quater final at a slam. 1) Roddick has seen better days and is playing better now 2) Roddick isn't really a sensible standard for tennis as far as gasquet is concerned.

People say he is talented, but he also has flaws in his game which you can easily exploit. His FH cocks too early and doesn't generate a lot of power outside his BH.

I don't think he has the passion either. Murray/Roddick/Nadal/Federer show emotion in their games, Gasquet seems to not care when losing.

YES,why not?
A lot of things can change in a couple of years,and Fed-Nad won't be here for ever.In a post-Fed era,sure there's space for a Gasquet GS win.
