Gems and blunders from the TTW tennis discussions

One of the VB legends just stated “Querrey is the leader at Wimby with 100 aces but that is with two five-set matches.”

Querrey has lost two sets, one to Thiem and one to Sandgren.

The moment of truth for GOATness: the OP by Spencer Gore, in all its beauty and from the height of all his over 120 years of tennis experience:

"This is the re-match we've waited over a decade for. Nadal vs Federer at the home of tennis.

Federer's age isn't irrelevant but older players have made the final and he starts as firm favourite. As his fans never tire of posting on here, Nadal has been relatively poor on grass for years. It would be utter hypocrisy for them now to claim that the same player is suddenly favourite on grass against the 8 times champion.

But Nadal will surely be very dangerous. If they allow the roof to stay open (far from certain) then he will surely push Roger all the way.

This is one I think Nadal can maybe afford to lose as he still has time to win a few more slams. But without doubt a 1-3 record at Wimbledon against the Swiss will be damaging to his legacy. On the other hand, Roger's ultimate claim to GOATness would become very suspect if he had failed to win a single sequence of matches against Nadal at any of the slams.

The majority of the pressure is on Roger. It will be fascinating to see how he copes with it. Will it make him, or break him"

Sitch a fine rabbit stew!

The title is pretty self-explanatory: all the weird, outrageously untrue etc claims related to the game. Please, only direct quotes. That is not a failed predictions thread, or one where someone's words are "interpreted", out of context or an obvious joke.

I will start with two recent ones:

Clayqueen: Agassi never won a Major on clay
RF-18: Kyrgios is Isner but with LESSER ground game

Another RF-18 gem; "Federer's peak came at 34".

Blunder of a different kind:
A poster with the view "I'm always right, God is on my side", lets just call her #Jesuswantsmeforasunbeam# was banging on about Evert's morals (whilst defending Serena Williams and also bashing Sharapova). Her avatar was the God Loving June Carter-Cash whom #Jesuswantsmeforasunbeam# absolutely lauded. It gave me great pleasure to list said addictions of Mrs Carter-Cash.
Mean, but satisfying. :)
