If he was younger (than Djokovic) he (Federer) wouldn't be atg at all, he would be Tsitsipas level, but worst because Tsi at least has some ball down there... ;)
I can see expirience Novak and Nadal bashing young Fed right and left, till their retirement...

I'm convinced that beard is just here for the lulz.

Actually, scratch that, we all are.

What is incorrect about what I posted? How can someone compare 2017 Roger Federer to 2006-2009 Federer when they were not watching tennis in those years?:eek:

seriously? don’t you think maybe they watched the 06-09 Federer matches later and then formed their opinion ?

this is like saying I can’t compare the new Terminator with the 1984 original because I wasn’t alive back in 1984 to see it, doesn’t make any sense

plus I don’t know how you got that 90 % of TTW posters weren’t watching tennis in 06-09, that’s not that long ago and the average age of the posters here seems to be around 30-35.

Well he's not playing for the World Tour Finals, he's playing for the year-end-#1 :)
And if Rafa doesn't ever win the World Tour Finals, guess who suffers? The World Tour Finals.
The World Tour Finals loses value when a guy has 19+ slams and didn't win it.....proving that greatness has nothing to do with the World Tour Finals.
Federer and Djokovic also suffer somewhat, because their achievement of winning the World Tour Finals many times is devalued.

Honestly, we're including too many blunders in this thread and not actual gems. I'll include some more gems to reveal the true TTW:

[Federer:]
Yeah
I know sometimes things may not
Always make sense to you right now
But hey
What daddy always tell you?
Straighten up little soldat
Stiffen up that lower back
What you crying about?
You got me
Handsie I know you miss your mom and I know you miss your dad
Well I'm gone but I'm trying to give you a career that you never had
I can see you're sad, even when you smile, even when you
I can see it in the lens, deep inside you want to cry
Cause you're scared, daddy ain't there?
Peak Fed’s with you in your prayers
No more crying, wipe them tears
Freddy’s here, no more nightmares
We gon' pull together through it, we gon' do it
t_p, Toni’s crazy, ain't he?
Yeah but he loves you girl and you better know it
We're all we got in this world
When it spins, when it swirls
When it whirls, when it twirls
Two little conceited girls
Lookin' puzzled, in a daze
I know it's confusing you
Daddy's always on the move, Rafi’s always on the news
I try to keep you sheltered from it but somehow it seems
The harder that I try to do that, the more it backfires on me
All the things growing up his daddy that he had to see
Daddy don't want you to see but you see just as much as he did
We did not plan it to be this way, Rafito and me
But things have gotten so good between us
I don't see us ever being enemies ever again
Like we used to be when he was a teenager
But then of course everything always happens for a reason
I guess GOAT was never meant to be
But it's just something we have no control over and that's what legacy is
But no more worries, rest your head and go to sleep
Maybe one day you’ll wake up and 40-15 will just be a dream

Now conceited baby, don't you cry
Everything's gonna be alright
Put them sunglasses up little Handsy, I told ya
Daddy’s here to hold ya through the night
I know Kneedäl’s not here right now and we don't know why
We fear how he wins inside
It may seem a little crazy, whiny Handsy
But I’m sorry the knees gon' be alright

It's funny
I remember back one year when daddy had no Wimbly
Rafi wrapped the Wimbly trophy up
And stuck 'em under my seed and said it was morally from me
Cause daddy couldn't win 'em
I'll never forget that Wimbly I sat up the whole night crying
Cause daddy felt like a mug, see daddy had a job
But his job was to keep the gloat on the table for you and _pro
And at the time every record that we had
Either kept getting broken into and robbed
And shredded on my court and Mirka was saving money for you in a jar
Tryna start a piggy bank for you so you could go to Basel
Almost had a thousand dollars till Delpo broke me and won it
And I know it hurt so bad it broke your momma's heart
And it seemed like everything was just startin' to fall apart
Nike and I was arguin' a lot so Nike moved back
In Majorca in the flat one bedroom apartment
And dad moved back to the other side of Finland near Helsinki
And that's when daddy went to Tennis Warehouse with Berrettini and met tennis_pro
And flew you and momma out to see me
But I had Laver Cup, you and momma had to leave me
Then you realised Laver Cup wins were empty, and Mirka didn't like it
And you and t_p were too blind to understand it
Papa was a mossy stone, Rafa’s winning out on habit
And it all happened too fast for either one of us to grab it
I'm just sorry you were there and had to witness it first hand
Cause all I ever wanted to do was just get you out
Now I'm sitting in this empty house, just reminiscing
Lookin' at your baby comments, it just trips me out
To see how much you both regressed, it's almost like you're sisters now
Wow, guess you pretty much are and daddy's still here
t_p I'm talkin' to you too, daddy's still here
I like the sound of that, yeah
It's got a ring to it don't it?
Shh, Rafi’s only gone for the moment

Now conceited baby, don't you cry
Everything's gonna be alright
Put them sunglasses up little Handsy, I told ya
Daddy’s here to hold ya through the night
I know Kneedäl’s not here right now and we don't know why
We fear how he wins inside
It may seem a little crazy, whiny Handsy
But I’m sorry the knees gon' be alright

And if you ask me too Daddy's gonna buy you a golden bird
I'mma give you the world
I'mma buy a golden slem for you
I'mma win for you
I'll do anything for you to see your bile
And if that golden bird don't sing and that win don't shine
I'mma break that birdies neck
I'll go back to the jeweler who sold it to ya
And make him eat every carat don't **** with Fred (ha ha)

It seems clear to me that the four Muzziah Slam-threads are no longer enough. The Gospel of the Magnanimous one ought to be spread to every corner of the world. We have let our message be heard through the Bogong High Plains of Australia, on the dusty battlegrounds of Chatrier, the holy gates of the All England Club and we have unleashed hurricanes on Ashe. But what about that poor rickshaw driver in Beijing; those lonely stoners in the Coachella Valley of California; the wretched bankers of Monte Carlo — are they not deserving of salvation too? Yes. Yes they are.

Besides, as the Muzziah inches ever closer to coveted achievements such as the #1 ranking, we brothers and sisters of destiny need a sanctum to exult in His non-slam feats. A sacred place free of the tedious and geopolitically loaded Fedalovic GOAT-debates that the powers that be publish to keep the masses divided and distracted from real issues (also suspected to be a proxy war supported from opposite ends by Swiss pharmaceutical companies and Serbian intelligence services). A space for pure unalloyed trollery intermingled with ardent sincerity.

So come frolic in the fields, my children, together we shall rejoice!

A classic "Hot Take" regarding Sharapov's First Round match at the 2019 US Open against Serena by Mr.Lob:
Sharapova has a one match winning streak over Serena, who quit in their last match because she wasn't playing well and Sharapova was.

Sharapova doesn't need to do anything different in her 1st round match against Serena. What Sugarpova does best, blasting balls in the corners, is now a weakness for Serena. Serena's movement, flexibility, and speed has dropped a notch or two in the last couple of years....old age and giving birth...as well as too many HoHo's.
Serena is rumoured to have back problems. Sharapova will win this one with bakery products for Serena to feast on.
What's the definition of Insanity?

Indoors is great for the crowds because THEY don't have to suffer weather changes and the like. However, the downside is that Schonwetterspieler among the athletes have an advantage, all the players who are too soft and sensitive for outdoor conditions which can be unpleasant and/or changing, players who need perfect conditions otherwise they start throwing fits...

I suppose indoors tennis is for fans of ballet, outdoors tennis for fans of battles.

So the logic is "whatever lasts long must be great". Kinda like the dictatorship in North Korea?

The Davis Cup had a huge tradition. According to your logic, it is almost blasphemous they destroyed it. Do you agree?

On the importance of the year end tournament in tennis and its long tradition.

The same wonderful source of information has stated that the one 18-year-old in the top 80 is both boring and arrogant. Quite an accomplishment for being a pro for just about a year, no?

Methinks you don't get @Mr.Lob sense of humour.
:)
Correct. It was obvious to most. I didn't think my attempt at a little humour with that final score would be make such a memorable impression. I'm flattered. But Serena did get her usual slam finals beat down, just not by Sugarpova. So all's well that ends well. ;)

Seem more like wishful think. But nice attempt at a save.
It would only take a little research on your part to read I'm not saving @Mr.Lob
He's well known to be a Sharapova fan, but very tongue-in-cheek about her.
You won't need to read that many of his posts to realise this.
Also, he is often listed as a poster 'with a sense of humour ' when such threads or conversations pop up.

I find their on court behaviour terrible. Their game is boring too, they just whack away like wood-choppers, when it goes in it goes in

Nadal has made four Wimbledon Finals. The two Wimbledon titles that he won were against Federer, who many claim is the GOAT, and holds the record for the most Wimbledon Singles Titles. And Natural Grass is a very unfamiliar surface for Nadal who grew up playing on Red Clay.

Contrast Federer, 8 Wimbledon Titles from Twelve Finals. But 1 Roland Garros Title from five Finals. And no victory against Nadal at Roland Garros.

So on that basis Federer is in a worse situation than Nadal is.

It could be argued that achieving 12 Roland Garros Titles is a much tougher task than 8 Wimbledon Titles

But I guess it depends on whether you value Grass Court Tennis over Clay Court Tennis. That probably depends where you come from, or what surface you grew up playing on, or who your favourite Pro Tennis player was / is!

The funny thing about humor, it's subjected. But I do like the twist on when a prediction fails; the old "I meant to do that" excuse is a classic and it seem to work on some.
