Hey guys!

Some more training clips to show. Not pointing out anything specific but if there ARE any things to specify please feel free. :)

Looks good man.

Maybe the backhand has a low margin for error the way you hit it but it still looks good.

In #3, I'd say you could try experimenting with a different setup on that backhand so that your shoulder turn away from the ball gives you a little more room to swing to contact (try turning your shoulders a little further sideways). I'm only looking at one example in that clip, but the upper half of your body may be muscling the stroke a little more than you want over the long haul.

I get more of the same impression after looking at #2. Your shoulders and hips remain slightly open through your backswing - maybe a little more Wawrinka than Federer? See how that stroke works if you can set up a bit more sideways. There might be a more complete kinetic chain to work with, but your best employment of the one-hander could be from right where it is now.

Yeah that side has been getting extensively worked upon over the last few months. Trying to kick a lot of habits and tendencies (the open hip/shoulder area you mentioned), but I will keep that in mind to try Wawa's during my next few sessions coming up. :)

Cool - I actually meant that your not-too-closed setup was more Stan than Fed, but didn't want to infer that this is either good or bad. They both crank it plenty, don't they?

I can hit my better one-handed backhands when I feel like I'm showing my shoulder blade (on my right shoulder) to the ball. That gives me a more complete backswing without exaggerating it. It's mostly the case that I need to give the stroke "enough" room to accelerate comfortably with a smooth release. If I'm compact, I'm rushed - that's when I muscle the stroke too much.

Ahhhh, I gotcha. Well that's originally whom I was modeling it after, so that's a good note the setup is similar styled. I used to have a horrible habit of hitting TOO open with the side, causing plenty of mishits or wild shot patterns. But I'm trying to begin Futures training/competition so I have VERY little room for errors or bad form so I'm always seeking different views and opinions from those who know the game.
