Genesis Typhoon hybrid?

All depends on what your preference is of course, but i have tried hybrid with natural gut, NRG2 and Gosen OG sheep. My personal preference is full bed of Typhoon, it is soft enough to not give elbow any problems at normal tensions, has plenty of power, and of course spin and control seem to be best in full bed. This of course IMHO

If you with more topspin you should be able to go lower with Typhoon. Check my sig.

Hello Nick, i am using Aerostorm Tour with Genesis Typhoon @ 51lbs. I also use Polystar Eneergy. I am tempted to try lower tension. How low should i start with this experiment? should i go with 48 on the next string job?

Hi, check out the low tension thread for more info. I've played full poly as low as 35/35(with my leaded up tweeners!) without any problems but I hit with lots of top. BTW, slices are also very effective at lower tension too.
So, sure, try going down 3-4 lbs and see what happens.

typhoon is a soft but crisp (not mushy) string. i recommend a full bed of the stuff at the same tension you would string your syn gut. the reason i advocate full bed is because the string is already a powerful enough poly so you don't need any extra power from a synthetic/multi also it is a soft poly so you don't need the hybrid to soften the bed. if you want to soften the bed a bit more then i recommend a full bed with the cross tension 2-3# lower.
i also tried the low-low tension setup for a while @ 32-38# with black code. spin was the sickest i have ever experienced. control was bad. under pressured situations when i had to put the ball where i wanted it, i would put the ball in the center of the court. i lost a big tournament because of this. also it will take a while to adjust to volleying at such low tensions. i ended up back to my regular tension, 57-62#. here is a excerpt from my string journal on typhoon. hth:

net. not even the syn gut helps much to give it volley
feel. tension maintenance has been outstanding. it
presently still plays wee bit too powerful. i should have
strung this as a full bed without the added power of the
syn gut in a hybrid. i also should have strung it at least
60/60, i think this would have been perfect. for me no poly
could beat the way black code plays for me UNTIL NOW. i am
almost ashamed to admit it but this genesis typhoon stuff i
just stuck in my racquet literally scared me. it plays better
than my beloved bc which i hate to admit. it is the perfect balance
between comfort and stiffness and the "pop" you get from the
stringbed is very nice. i am drilling 1hbh's with typhoon in my video
here and you can hear the pop of the string even over the sound track.
yeah black code has been my baby for a long time, but she may have to
make room for this new sweetie pie - genesis typhoon.

You're welcome. I know low tension sounds a little crazy but all that extra spin actually leads to more ball control. Volleys definitely, for me, took some extra practice to master. Good luck.

I string my purse storm tours with typhoon mains at 57lb and RIP Control 16 at 59lb.
I love the setup. great control but the power is there when you want it.
The RIP gives some additional pocketing and softens up the stringbed a little.
But I will try a full bed to see the difference.

From what others say, doesnt typhoon already have great pocketing and is soft? IF you do try a full bed post what you think. thx

Typhoon is soft, but still in the poly category so in general stiffer than multi, nylon and gut.
RIP is pretty unique because is quite soft but low powered.
definitively i will post after i try full bed of typhoon.

I wouldnt buy Typhoon if I was looking to hybrid a poly. I think you want to hybrid polys that are stiffer..Cyberflash for example.

Well I've recently bought a stringer so I looked around for strings to try these two interested me the most.
I've read energy loses tension quite a bit and Is powerful
Typhoon can hold tension well I've read with good control.

I've heard that typhoon is already quite powerful so I plan to string full bed and then go from there. Maybe someone else will chime in bc I cant give advice on this

Energy is very soft and very powerful and loses tension very quickly.
Typhoon is stiffer (I should say less soft) and hold tension very well.
