All this stuff about Murray being a failure etc etc is pathetic. He is a world top 5 player on merit and has wins over the others above him.

Are these players who have never won a slam ( so far ) also failures/ losers ?

Soderling
Ferrer
Monfils
Tsonga
Verdasco
Berdych
Davydenko
Baghdatis

The guy is only 23. Give him a break ! There are signs that the Federer- Nadal era of domination may be ending with Roger past his best and Rafa beset by frequent injuries. I think in the end Murray will win slam (s ) but even if he doesn't tennis is a hugely demanding sport physically and mentally so getting at 1 time to no 2 in the world and 3 slam finals at the age of 23 means he is already a high achiever. So get off his back !

When he does more than just showing up in a slam final, even if he loses, I might consider your request.

Chances are, after Paris, Nadal will be the winner of 4 of the 5 past slams.

As for Murray, I thought he would win this one. Everything fell his way. And I joke about the guy, but I always felt he would win a slam at some point. Now, I'm truly beginning to doubt he will win one. His mental block is now deeply rooted. He plays his worst tennis at the end of slams. Once he sees the finish line, he chokes. He's lost in straights in three slam finals. And really, he did it a fourth time. Once Djokovic lost to Berdych in the Wimbledon semi-final, everyone called the Nadal/Murray semi the true final, and Murray went down in straights once again. Also, prior to the Djokovic match, he tried to choke against Ferrer, and had Ferrer been any one of 6-7 other players, he would have succeeded in choking.

I have read alot of the threads knocking Murray and to be honest he has been hyped up quite alot. So I can understand some of the back lash but to be fair to him he is still a great player only 4 players have achieved more than him in the last 7 or so years.
Having seen all of his loses in finals it is clear to me that he struggles with the mental aspect of the game and cannot raise his level when he is in finals. So Im not confident he will ever break the duck however if he keeps giving himself opportunities then who knows. I dont want to write him off quite yet!
He IS still one of the very best on a hardcourt!

Murrays a fail and will never win a slam, hes never even won a set in a grand slam final, epic fail imo

That's a pretty bold statement considering he has been in 3 finals already and he's still very young AND can beat anyone in the world as we have all seen

Yeah, it's kinda early to write him off. Probably never get to Djoko's level, but he may still win one, especially as he has strong advantage over Novak on grass.

We're all failures since we play tennis and can't even make it to a Grand Slam qualifying round.

No we are not failures. We have the common sense to realize that we don't have the talent to pursue a professional tennis career. So we are actually all winners. You can now breathe a sigh of relief.

Actually yes, all those players on that list are failures except Tsonga who's just injury prone.

Raonic, Tomic and Dolgo will win slams before any of those guys do.

Well I guess if most of us had won $15m by the age of 23 plus commercials and endorsements we would be happy to be called failures.

I would take Murray to win a slam before any of those 3.

So all of the mostly highly talented top 20 players over the past 10 years who never win a slam are all failures ? I think you underestimate the strength in depth in mens tennis.

Roddick won 1 slam about 8 years ago. Take away his serve and he has a very limited game and tbh he bores the pants off most of us. Very unlikely to win another one. But I suppose he is less of a failure at 28 than Murray at 23 ?Thomas Johansson won the Australian
Open in 2002. Does anyone even remember him ?

Winning slams is very important. But it is not the only measurement of success / failure.

By the way much the same was written about Clijsters who went through much

the same as Murray in the early part of he career losing her first 4 slam finals.

If he can learn from his losses and continue to improve his game and mental toughness, he will win a slam. If he never wins a slam, then he'll have made a lot of money doing something he loves to do. Perhaps he will look back and regret not winning a slam. Then he will turn back to the TV and continue fragging.

This is how it is in the court of public perception.

If Fed loses in the semis of RG in 06, 07, and 08, his status is actually elevated.

Murray's situation isn't quite the same, but I think if he only had one slam finals loss, the peanut gallery would be much quieter.

Watching this match on replay, I feel like in the first and third sets, Murray is playing a decent B game. Nole just has more firepower.

There are signs that the Federer- Nadal era of domination may be ending

Who is going to end it, Murray, ROTFL! Sorry Nadal is still only 24, his era is far from over. He still has alot more slams left in him, and is the heavy favorite for the French Open and probably Wimbledon for the next few years (other than arguably Roger as well at Wimbledon, but if you think Roger is still going that strong, well all the worse for Murray then). Djokovic proved definitively what anyone was an idiot to ever doubt which is Djokovic >>> Murray. So Murray needs to avoid Djokovic to win any hard court slam, maybe he could beat him on grass if he is lucky and even then only if Djokovic is way off his game (and forget even considering clay). Federer even on the downswing of his career will probably always top Murray if they meet in a slam, especialy the final. Murray doesnt have the game to take it to Federer and be agressive which is how Soderling, Berdych, and Djokovic all beat him in slams. If Del Potro comes back at his best he can easily overtake Murray. And by the time Nadal and Federer are truly done as threat, especialy Nadal, there will be new contenders born in the 90s who are jus tstarting to make their move now, and in all likelihood some of them will be better than Murray by then as well.

Soderling
Ferrer
Monfils
Tsonga
Verdasco
Berdych
Davydenko
Baghdatis

None of those players are constantly hyped to win slams. In fact none of them are even really supposed to win a slam, other than maybe Davydenko or Soderling winning one to some.

Murray will NEVER win a slam. He is a gutless puke who has absolutely ZERO heart. I don't care if someone out plays him, but for him to not try his hardest on every point makes him a disgrace. He has no respect for the sport.

He should have gone down fighting and scratching and clawing. He went out with a wimper, whining like the biatch that he is.
