Getting a new Pair of Shoes - Need help with Babolat Propulses, etc.

vmosrafa08

Semi-Pro
So I'm getting a new pair of tennis shoes next week... I need help deciding what to get.

What tennis shoes I currently wear:
I currently wear the Barricade IVs. I like the support that they have ( I need a lot of support on the side of the shoe because of my lateral movements). However, they are a little bit heavy, and not so good on clay courts. I also had the Tirand IIIs, but they had no support whatsoever. Bad experience.

What tennis shoes I am looking into:

-Nike Vapor VI
-Nike Air CourtBallistec
-Adidas Barricade Vs
-Adidas CC Genius
-Babolat Propulse 2

What I really need:
- Good for Clay courts and Hard Courts
- Support on the side of the shoe
- Leaning toward the Babolat Propulse 2s - Can anyone give any feedback, especially compared to Barricades?

Thanks

hard to find something good for both clay and hard. Guess you'd be lookind at a herringbone patytern because that's good for both surfaces.

I have the Vapor 6's but on hardcourt the sole wore out in no time. I'd probably stay away from them is i were you.

Is the herringbone pattern useful for hardcourts? And I can't go through a sole even if I wanted to - I would have to use a sanding machine. I've had my B IVs for a long, long time.

I can't compare the PP2 to the B5's, but Roddick wore his at the FO. They are supposed to be good for all surfaces. Durability is most-likely not anywhere near each oter, but you do get a 6-month warranty. I also like the straps the PP2's have, keeps your feet snug and secured.

You can't go wrong with those then. I might sound like Babolat freak, but I haven't worn any of the other shoes listed. I just want to say my opinion on what I have tried.

Can anyone else recommend a shoe / tell me something about the shoes that I listed above?

I had the Propulse I and they fit good but I didn't care for the straps amd the shoe doesn't breathe well at all. The Barricades are heavy.

I recently switched to CourtBallistec 1.3.
I was concerned a little because I am used to very light shoes (asics). But I am suffering feet and tendons problems and so I decided to go with heavier and more stable shoe.
Let me tell you, CB 1.3 is a great shoe!
Lateral stability is great and impact absorption is absolutely fantastic. Comfort is also great. they fit like gloves.
They are a little heavy but I can live with it.
One last thing. I have high arch and the arch support on Cb1.3 is poor. But I solved that by replacing with my own insoles.
I've also ordered Propulse 2 and I should get them next week. I'll report back with my impression.
I hope it helped a little.
cheers.

Edit: At the nike store I've also tried Vapor VI on and they felt very very very stiff. But I didn't play with them so I don't really know how they perform after break-in.

I tried out a couple of shoes, and here are my thoughts:

-Nike Vapor VI : They are made of 100% plastic, so they do not have any ventilation, and they are very stiff.
-Nike Air CourtBallistec : Good support, but they are really ugly, and they look really big when I put them on.
-Adidas Barricade Vs : I have the Tirands and the BIVs; the Barricade Vs are great; I will either get them or the CC Genius.
-Adidas CC Genius : Unfortunately, the store did not have these.
-Babolat Propulse 2 : Straps are useless; there is not a lot of support, and they are not comfortable at all.

Conclusion:
Nike Vapor Vi : Bad ventilation, not enough support
Air CourtBallistec: Looks bad, not something I want
Propulse 2: Bad support / useless straps.

Should I get the BVs or the CC Genius? For the BVs - Black+White or Silver?

2 Questions:

-Barricade Vs or CC Geniuses

-If I pick the barricades, should I get the Black and White ones, or the Silver ones?

I have a set of Propulse 2 that I've been using on and off for a bit. The straps do work IMO. They help make the fit nice and snug. However, they are annoying and get in the way of the laces (velcro and laces in close proximity is a disaster).

Overall, they fit my feet well and are quite stable on court. The primary drawback is that I can detect some degree of insufficient cushioning in the forefoot area, relative to my regular shoe.

I'm going to buy either the BVs or the cc geniuses - not interested in nike or babolat shoes anymore. Any suggestions when it comes to BVs ( colors etc. ) and the v geniuses?
