Both the men's and women's teams lost to Keiser at the NAIA national indoors finals 2/5. It was the men's team's 1st loss in 7 years. GGC only has outdoor courts-I dont know how many indoor matches they played over those 7 years. Founding GGC coach Chase Hodges had left to join UTR as a VP in June '22. When GGC was 1st formed, Chase was able to recruit high level players who weren't able to play for D1-e.g Kevin Konfederak who had a career high of 485 in 2012. Now in recent years with rules of amateurism somewhat relaxed, players in the ATP 500 can play D1 tennis; I assume they are OK as long as their earnings dont exceed expenses.

Anyway, I dont think we will ever see again a 173 win streak for a tennis team. I am sure that streak would have ended sooner if GGC had been able to schedule vs D1 teams-usually only Citadel would play them and get creamed. While GGC used to be able to recruit P5 level players, GGC is now more the level of a decent MM. Still as an Atlantan, I am glad in recent years we can claim multiple national championships-years of NAIA Nattys, a D3 men's championship (Emory), and further back a National D1 for the women's GT team (2009 with Bryan Shelton coaching) and a runnerup finish for UGA women (2019). I had high hope for GA men going deep after fall returns with #1 Quinn and 5 super seniors on the roster but after their rough start this dual season, NCAA QFs may be the best they can do.

One thing missed, is apparently GGC was up 3-0 in the match and could not close out the remaining matches, with several being 3rd sets. Regardless what a phenomenal run by the men's team

That's quite a roster- 3 from Argentina, 2 Serbians, 2 Indians, 1 Italian, 1 from Spain, 1 from Switzerland and 1 from Germany.

In the team's early years they had a couple players from Australia, one from Egypt, and a couple from Austria. They have always been strong in recruiting from South America-Paraguay, Venezuela as well as Argentina. They do currently have 1 local Georgia player on the roster-guy played one match in 21/22-he was only UTR 10-think he was a local Gwinnett HS player as well as 3 star for USTA. Jordan Cox who reached the jr finals of Wimbledon was the best American to ever play for GGC.

Georgia used to host a big fall tournament in Sept inviting about 25 universities with a mix of P5, MM, D2, and GGC. In 2015, in 64 A draw, the GGC #1 beat 2 UGA players en route to finals where he lost in straights to UGA's #1 Wayne Montgomery. A GGC player from Australia Lachlan MacPhee beat a UGA player and others before beating a Clemson player in final of the 64B draw; later he transferred for Vandy where he didnt do much. It was a fun event to take my then HS son to watch players from 3 divisions battle out matches. With 3 draws, there were close to 200 players
