Gilles Simon about Novak's injury on AO23

Bullsh1t. Even in recreational tennis, if you can’t run you are toast.

Well, neither Djokovic nor Simon said they couldn't run. Just that they had issues with an injury.

Almost every morning I wake up with pain in my ankles, feet and knees. That's what you get from heavy squats, deadlifts and playing basketball and tennis for hours. After some time, it gets normal, and here I am some days heavy squatting afternoon and playing basketball for 2, 3 hours in the evening.

And no, I'm not old, younger than Djokovic actually.

The most blatant of the lot. Djokovic was acting like Clint Eastwood in the desert being made to walk without water by Eli Wallach in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and then Djokovic wins something like 9 games in a row to bagel Murray in the fourth set to take the title.
I'm pretty sure that very day Andy stopped being Novak's friend.

Speaking of truly pathetic, a wild Vamos clown has appeared, as usual offering no worthy contribution.

We just need the copy-pasting anti vax criminal announcer and the circus is complete in this thread too.

LOL literally , we only need some hypothetical generator to come to ask for some hypothetical match and forum day is complete. Pandemonium.

And you guys are butthurt Nole haters :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D

I have said Djokovic deserves all the accolades and is objectively better than Nadal LOL. You just can't take a comment about your poor method of argumentation.

In fact, Djokovic could do without a fan like you because your ad hominem arguments just give him a bad rap.

Could it be possible that Simon also faked his injuries? Or is he telling the truth? Many people suggest Djokovic faked his hamstring injury in order to, I don't know, soften the opponents maybe? Get them a little bit careless?

Translation from French:

In his show on Twitch, Gaël Monfils invited Gilles Simon to speak about the controversy surrounding Novak Djokovic's injury at the Australian Open.

As usual, Gillou gave us a very personal analysis of the situation but not meaningless.

Me too, I happened to play injured, I was on crutches the same morning and I managed to reach the 3rd round or the round of 16, because it was quite simply my level! His level is winning Grand Slam tournaments”, explained the Frenchman with a touch of humour.

On topic, it isn't very professional or polite of Simon to openly mock a fellow player unless he has proof.

Gilles is talking about the Australian Open 2014, where he had problems with his ankle after Kooyong, prior to the AO. I never saw that match with Brands, IIRC, he saved something like 7 MPs in that match and played a lot of serve/volley to at least try and compensate for a lack of mobility, laterally. Brands hit over 100 winners in that match. I don't think it was televised unfortunately, if I could choose one "missing" or "unavailable" match to watch, it would be this one.

Then he had that infamous topsy-turvy match with Cilic as well, I did see that :-D Pure entertainment.

You forgot to call me ******** LMFAO :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

No, Fognini incorrectly said that, or something was lost in translation.

He clarified almost immediately, even before Nadal's withdrawal from SF.

"Dear journalist friends, I want to inform you that I have never made a claim about a champion like Rafa and I would "never allow myself to.

"It is time to stop writing and reporting about everything in the wrong way. I wish Rafa and all his team the best of luck at Wimbledon."

Bottom of the article.

You people are such dumbasses and haters. Who cares if player X has an injury or not? Are you saying that because 'they might' have an injury, now you won't give it your 100% to beat them? How dumb is that! And if you're gonna give it your 100% anyway, who cares if they're injured then? If they are playing, they're not injured enough! So go out there and beat them! And don't be a crybaby if/when you fail!

We'll, Fognini admitted that Nadal's ab tear in Wimbledon was fake :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D

Why would someone ever be suspicious of Nadal's ab injury when he played awful after it happened? People would only ever be suspicious of someone who plays as good or better after an alleged injury. That's why virtually everyone is saying Djokovic's abdominal tear is as real as bigfoot or the loch ness monster

Literally your own OP has Simon saying that he was on crutches just that morning. I think it's safe to assume that a person on crutches can't run.

Am I reading too much into this? Unless something is lost in translation I actually think Simon is being *sarcastic* and taking a dig at Novak. Not saying what he's doing is right, just how I interpreted the "clutches" comment.

Right? I remember they were tight at some point. But those eyes
They played together a lot in their junior days, and were very close.

Prior to Djokovic's 2011 explosion, Murray was his only openly friend (besides the Serbians)

I think Murray felt betrayed, because what Djokovic did to him it woulda been understood if he did it to Federer, or Nadal
but Andy was his friend, and say what you want about Andy, but he's not a flawed character like Djokovic, he wouldn't do
that to his friend Novak, but Novak did it.

Djokovic does many things that turn people off, then he wonders why people don't like him.

I think, because of Djokovic's obvious fake injury, the AO 2023 should be null and void. Or better yet, be given to Nadal, as a bonus seen as he is a player who plays fair, and doesn't lie about his injuries. (unless he wants to duck opponents).

Did you read the rest of my post? Here, I'll be direct:

I'm literally limping in the morning, and then I do for example squats 130 kg for 5 @ 82 kg body mass, and in the evening play basketball, 5 on 5 in a gym.

Most of the times, the morning is very painful for me. If I had, I'd also use crutches for the first 5 minutes. :-D

Knees hurt, ankles hurt, foot hurts, sometimes the back, then when I start moving around after sleeping, when the body gets to working temperature, I'm okay.

But the real problem is, most of people's activity here on forum is picking their spoons and maybe climbing stairs when he elevator is not working. So who could understand how can Djokovic or Simon play through injury, right.

I love the fact that Nadal fans are calling out Djokovic for his injuries. Shall we post the articles that say what Nadal uses to "mend" his "injuries", which by chance all happen when he is not playing on clay ?

But in your case it isn't an injury right ? Just pain from a lot of activity. Simon is talking about an injury which had him on crutches which is not the same thing, it's not something that will just go away in the afternoon, so it's definitely a curious thing.

The amount of hurt in the forum, and the #22 is just too much.......

Here's to #23......... Xanax will report mega profits......

Yeah, you are right about that, but maybe it's not that serious injury.

In my case, they are kinda injuries, chronic ones.

In their cases it's acute injuries, and it's harder to heal that fast from those kind of injuries.

One thing is for sure, you have to blast Djokovic off the court to beat him, and if Djokovic is able to convince you that he's injured, and you start playing carefully because you think it will be enough to beat an injured opponent.... Djokovic's plan worked.

Djokovic doesn't need a "plan" to beat today's competition in slams (especially his favorite slam). All he needs to do is show up, and he did so at the AO with a hamstring injury and won the title losing only one set.

Exactly. That's why he does it, that's why any player does it.

The point is that such injuries tend to mean that you play worse, not better.
