I'm a fan of Simon, but when I actually looked at his grand slam results from last year, and also his MS results, I couldn't believe he got to the top 10. He only managed three third-rounds, and also went out first round at the French. So I don't know how his results got him to the top 10.
As for his loss against Ferrero, I thought beforehand that Simon would have no chance. Ferrero is a similar player, but more aggressive and as consistent. Simon prefers an opponents pace, and a faster court suits the players like Simon. He prefers when a player can attack him, and he is able to use their pace and get the speed off from the court. Ferrero isn't an attacking player, and Simon has no way of going through a player like Ferrero. He reminds me of Andy Murray a little, but without as much variety and power.
All the comments like 'Simon is a mug' are so far from being true. Simon uses his brain as much as anyone on the tour.
