I had no knowledge until today that there was gambling at Rick's Cafe !
Would someone with a twitter account please tweet this guy Richard Sherlock Holmes Ings that the information he is so shocked to learn and the numbers he wants have always been publicly available. But it takes some effort to find (the ATP should post it and not make you find it or have to contact them or the IRS to get it).
The numbers in 2014 (2015 report) were $581,000 to his production company and $256,955 compensation for his Director position. JG was not the only Director that year to have business with the ATP.
The numbers in 2015 (2016 report) were $675,876 for his production company and $177,609 compensation for his Director position. Again, JG was not the only Director that year to have business with the ATP.
Also disclosed in each of those years for “family/business relationships among interested persons” that that David Edges and Justin Gimelstob have a “business relationship,” which is thin disclosure to say the least.
Later years aren't as instantly available. The ATP should be posting them at it's site and not frustrate Ings.
Why was I aware of it years ago and Ing wasn't ? Because I actually had an interest in the ATP Governance as opposed to hopping on the train and feigning interest and outrage after the JG incident.
To answer his question, while I'm not looking up the specific laws applicable to the ATP entity, typically the way you sanitize it and avoid allegations of self-dealing is by (1) disclosure, (2) not having the interested party participating in the approval and (3) making sure it's an arm's length transaction which would include consideration of other third party transactions.
I'll regret looking up these numbers after the thread is deleted.
