And you’re getting enabling a little confused. Enabling them would imply I had something to do with the assault. If my friend has a drinking problem and I don’t drink with them, I’m not enabling them.

Enabling means you’re partaking in the activity or directly contributing to it. Like me giving you money so you can support a drug habit or doing drugs with you. You’re confusing enabling with being a negligent friend.

And assault is not assault. Me jumping the net and beating up a guy over a line call is a lot different than you hitting a guy because he grabbed your wife’s butt at a bar.
