I give them great credit for their initiative: the eff-d up guys using weed need to have plenty of munches handy, you know.

Out the pockets fly the money!

Weed is a million times more safe and less addicting than alcohol is. The only thing effed up is your backwards thinking.

I agree. Alcohol's damages are vastly under-reported! It destroys people and relationships, marriages and families, etc. I would ban it if this kind of substance was to come up as something new. I say all this balancing the perceived positives against these negatives. Alcohol is destructive stuff, more so than tobacco. Marijuana, to be honest, also is enormously destructive. I hate the negative tone you and others take toward this kind of warning---it's self-destructive to ignore the dangers.

last time I checked, there were millions of people benefitting from medical cannabis. the same can't be said about neither alcohol nor tobacco. so whether cannabis is 'enourmously destructive' or not should not be generalized lightly, as this is the exact agenda conservative politicians use for their ill-willed 'war on weed'.

of course smoking is bad. but there are other forms of consumption.
of course addiction is bad too, but then again you can also get addicted to stuff like video games, cleaning your house or even posting on a tennis forum:rolleyes:. it's a behaviour related thing. and pretty much everybody who abuses weed had a bunch of problems to begin with. of course weed is gonna make things even worse in such a case.

a prohibitve approach will forever make the stuff interesting to kids, and that's really the worst that can happen weed-related imo.

As Eddie Murphy once said, "I started smoking pot, and all of a sudden I realized I lost ten years of my life."

It's tougher stuff than is commonly thought or pointed out, or commonly wished to be.

I made a really bad restaurant server when I got high and I normally have an incredibly good memory. Anything that can disrupt short term memory that badly doesn't get my personal safety endorsement. Twenty years away from the green and I feel great.

Alcohol isn't safe but it never fogs memory unless it's thoroughly abused and the addictiveness just doesn't exist unless again it's abused.

I spent the first month of a six-month stay in London with 100 other college students and "the greenies" were absolutely unbearable to hang with for the first month because nobody had a connection. Talk about mental withdrawal! Once somebody got lucky, he became the richest and most popular guy in the dorm. And that was when there was no chemical engineering layered into what is supposedly a natural high.

Alcohol, the cause of and cure to all of life's problems...

Recent NYT article from about the Girl Scouts (wanting to change the name from Talmadge, a segregationist former governor to a GS keader):
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/04/us/savannah-talmadge-bridge-girl-scouts.html

GS Petition: http://www.girlscouts.org/en/about-...n-a-petition-to-name-the-savannah-bridge.html ....although if they get their way, the bridge would be named after JULIETTE GORDON LOW

Low Bridge ?

Dear Tom:
When in doubt follow the money. A lot of people are singing a different tune now because they know there is a lot of dough to be made with the weed industry and the public is singing along like sheep.
But hey who doesn't need another chemically induced mind-altering drug because life is getting so unbearably boring.

Yes, Deep Throat was right 45 years ago. I actually find life quite interesting on caffeine in the morning and about 2 beers max after a long day of work. Do endorphins count as chemicals? I'm hooked on them!

If it's a high bridge you want, name it after Lady Chablis, the drag queen of "Midnight In The Garden Of Good & Evil," a work that's the best thing to have come out of Savannah since the Keach brothers actors, Jets C Kevin Mawae and baseballers Bucky friggin Dent and perfect game Kenny Rogers.

I'm an old political science major, so of course I'm distressed when public policy issues end up with ad hominem attacks rather than real discussion of pros and cons.

Of course I'm a fool! The internet is BUILT for silly and cheap ad hominem attacks!

Long-time TW posters may recall years back when I tried to argue the case of mandatory identification for internet posters. This keeps it real.

If a person seriously studies the negatives of alcohol, he's very likely to see this as more dangerous than tobacco, and even (given proportionate differences) dope.
