Glasses or not?

Ok I'm old and am near sighted but it seems as I age my sight is improving. when I drive now I hardly ever wear glasses and Doc indicates this is normal but don't ask me to read small print. So the question is while playing should I wear glasses? I'm constantly putting them on and then off. With near sighted glasses you don't see as sharp up close but it's better for watching opponents side. Does anyone else have this problem and how do you handle it??

You really don't need to see clearly to play, how bad are your eyes right now? Prescription? Anything better than say -.75 I'd say leave the glasses off.

I am at a really screwy place eyesight wise that is killing my game. I have my dominant eye that is getting blurry and both eyes that don't do as well at dusk or under lights. So my depth perception and timing goes to crap for evening matches, and sometimes even during day matches. I have tried doing glasses, but I get dizzy running with them on so I can't play with them yet.

I play in prescription Oakleys (-1.00 / 0.75) but seldom bother with glasses otherwise. Like you my distance sight is improving as I age but unlike you I still have very good close up vision. Perhaps my volleys would be better without glasses but I’d find it a bit off putting not to be able to clearly see where my shots land.

-1.00 / 0.75 is nothing. My eyes do not like perfect vision. Every time I put on newly prescribed glasses (say -2.00), my eyes start to deteriorate (say -3.00 naked eyes), so that the combined vision is always about -1.00 to -1.50. So sad I did so so many times before understanding it. This made me -5.xx now.

I tried wearing glasses at night many years ago, never really liked it. My vision is about -1.0, hasn't really changed since my 20's. I do see the ball very clearly in decent light, even decent under lights. I don't need to read the name on the ball, just need to follow it and anticipate where it is going. I would say use contacts if needed, but try to avoid glasses. Glare and limited peripheral vision are too high a price.

Not exactly sure its what you are dealing with but my glasses have one lense where the lense is for distance and the other eye gets up close. Ideally the brain meshes the two. I think it just started doing that after a few months of getting used to that.
