Thanks. Going to watch them now.
God Borg is so unique thanks for sharing this mate.
You got it. You're very welcome. I wish there was a ton of HD video of all those matches from that era, but we don't have that of course. Same with Gonzalez, Rosewall, Laver, etc. Imagine all of it in color and HD and great audio. That would be eye opening to say the least for many. Just the sheer presentation.
Exactly its a shame Humans weren't clever enough to invent colour and good HD quality back then .
Personally - Rosewall, Goolagong, Nastase, Borg, Mandlikova (when 'on'), Mecir, Rios, Mauresmo, Federer.
By reputation - Hoad
In a single match - Borg v Gerulaitis Wimbledon semi-final. Two players at their best for a whole match. The most continuously enjoyable match for quality of play I ever saw.
Ha Ha, good one ubi1. Not clever enough to invent those things out of almost nothing close back then I suppose (analog vs. digital, etc.). They were working with what they did have of course. No Tennis Channel marketing either. Yet, one thing was that back then you had big matches squarely in prime time and on the major networks. That's not so true these days in many places. As time passes, there will be more and more old video that will be reformatted and reissued though. There's probably a business opportunity in doing so.
Here's new footage on YT from the 1979 Wimbledon SF with Borg vs. Connors. Connors won 7 games in this SF match (just as in the '78 W final versus Connors).
