Did you see reference to television for the 1958 and 1959 Forest Hills TOC?

This is big news, I did not see anything in the New York Times, perhaps because it was blocked out in the NY area.

I found out about KYW-TV...it was VERY local to Cleveland.
Forest Hills was, of course, a national broadcast on CBS Sports television.....perhaps still in the vaults.
I did not see it in the NY Times because New York was blacked out.

The key word is LOCAL tv for the Cleveland World Pro, as opposed to NATIONAL TV for Forest Hills...the difference between an event of local importance, and one of national importance.

That says it all...we can finally put this baby to bed.

As I recall, the Cleveland events in 1960-1961-1962 were under the 4-man "rounds".

"Main draw = 4 players, two players not having to qualify, Hoad and Gonzales (the #1 and #2 players).
The qualifying matches involved the "supporting cast".

A "round" involves ALL the players in the main draw. "
