Good cheap softer SG or multi to put in the crosses with Gut Mains

I have another post on here where I put Gosen OG Sheep crosses with Tonic+ mains, mostly for the purposes of lighting the cost per string job a little.

What Ive found is that the Gosen string is considerably stiff for a SG, and it added enough stiffness to my stringbed where it's undesirable to me (however may work great for someone else). Part of this is choosing the wrong tensions for the strings obviously though.

Once I had tryed VS mains with NXT crosses and I really liked it, in fact it didnt seem that far from my all Tonic+ racquet.

Can anyone recommend another SG or Multi out there that is both softer in feel but still quite cheap? Or are Gosen and Sweet pretty much the only real cheap strings worth getting. (is Sweet softer than Gosen)

Also string breakage isnt much of an issue with me, I dont break strings that often.

I've heard rave reviews abt the Yonex Tour Super 850 Pro Spin 16, that's its cheap, soft and yet has commendable durability. Of course, it's not as cheap as the Gosen.

Im actually thinking of trying it out myself one day.

forten sweet, head SG pps, ashaway liberty

PSG Soft, Alpha Gut 2000, among others. I tend to find OG Sheep pretty soft, though, so not sure how much better you'll do without doing to a full multi (no center core) which tend to be slightly pricier.

Also, try looking at the USRSA string locator. It lists dozens and dozens of strings by stiffness.

I use Head Fibergel Power or Alpha Prodigy in the crosses with Klip Legend in the mains. It's nice and soft. Another option is Ektelon Power Play. Power Play used to be called Prince Synthetic Soft. It's still the same string, just marketed for racquetball. You could give it a try.

for a syn gut...you can't go wrong with PSGO, wilson extreme, babolst superfine play. i agree that the og micro is stiff, underpowered, and has no feel....but that's why i use wilson extreme. babolat superfine play was a bit too soft and a bit dead feeling after break in...

I'm in the same situation. Don't like Gosen OG Sheep for the stiffness. I'm looking for something to cross with Klip Legend mains.

Has anyone tried the Tecnifibre syn gut reel that TW sells? 660 feet for $30 is about as cheap as it comes.

Has anyone ever used Ashaway Liberty as crosses with Natural Gut?

Looks definately softer than Gosen according to the stiffness research chart and it's even cheaper. Ive never used a nylon string though so wouldnt know what to expect. (except back in the day when I was a kid and bought prestrung racquets)

Forten doesnt score much diffrently from the Gosen on the chart although Ive never used it. Head SG pps looked fairly stiff as well.
