Im not sure if this is the correct section to create this thread in, I apologize if it's not the correct one, please feel free to move it.

Anyway, Im planning to watch some of the matches of this year's Halle grass tournament. I've never watched professionals in live and I would really appreciate if anyone could advice me for good/ best seats.

I was wondering if sitting somewhere in the GALERIE block G re ( closer to the block G li ) would be good. Or maybe Block A li/ re or Block E li/ re ?

Please have a look at the picture bellow and let me know.

Good question. If you are a player and want to experience it like you are playing, seats behind the baseline and close to the court are great, since you will be close to one player all the time. Of course, you can see all the action better from the sideline.

Im a recreational player who trains 2-3 times per week. I would surely love to be able to see the players' skills from a better angle so I can learn a thing or two, but I would also love to see all the action going on, which is why Im really wondering whether I should go for sideline seat or baseline seat

I had this question too when I visited my first tournament.
I went with the sideview with my wife, second layer (after vip -player boxes), which was great fun, but strange (used to watch a lot of tournaments on TV), I think I was more excited to "be there" at all.

When I had the chance to see "court level" from the baseline, (first or second block, very close to the court), them I had a huge change in my perspective of tennis "wow, that shot was not thaaaat fast, it was well placed", or seeing how pros had ample time between shots / crazy footwork, etc.

The only thing I care more is to always be on the first / second block closer to the court, of course there's a premium price for that, but if I have to watch from afar, I prefer to stay home and pause-replay.

Better watch two great semifinals / four games @best of eight on first block, than watching a predictable final winner from third level seats.

behind the baseline is my pick. if you go with sideline, try to get near the baseline so you can look out at the court. On sideline, try to get the side without the umpire stand and players chairs unless you are up high.

For us, it depends on the time of year (as in hot sun) but we try to get seats facing away from the sun.
If I go with a seat just behind the baseline, I think the sun wont be a problem at all ( since courts are like north-south and not west-east ). Plus, it's a stadium and Im not sure but maybe the roof will be closed ( in case it rains ), maybe not.

Behind a baseline is would be my first preference. South end, especially for mid-day matches, if the courts run North-South (unless you are fond of the sun in your eyes). Similar consideration if you are on the sidelines.

ITS block A and E and its no contest !!! Believe me I did not believe it and only watched from the side lines. I thought I would be staring a their behinds all match and would be silly. Then finally someone forced me to sit their and it was utterly different and far better perspective.

If I'm coaching I like to be behind the court as i find it a better perspective - although some coaches boxes at tournaments are on the sidelines or on a diagonal (which I also don't mind). The outside courts at Wimbledon have coaches reserved seating on the sidelines but near the baseline which is not ideal, but okay.

Basically avoid being on the sideline near the net and you'll have a great view and no neck ache from following the ball!

So from your diagram, block A or E first, then BDFBH, then anything else

Outer Courts

If your priority is to watch the biggest names then the largest stadiums of the tournaments are where they will play.

The outer courts are smaller and allow better perceptions of the speed of the strokes and ball. Viewing is much different than in the large and medium sized stadiums. Go to an early round and view some matches at the outer courts.

There may only be seats on the sides or ends in many outer courts.

I already bought tickets ( Block D, very close to the Block E ) for the final match of the tournament. The match will be played in the Gerry Weber Stadium, which is a large stadium and has about 12,000 seats.

I hope that Federer reaches the final match so I can see him in live, but if he doesnt, I would really love to see Thiem or Zverev in the final too.

Close to court level if possible. I prefer to be near the net post if there is an unobstructed view. But, behind the baseline is good also.

Presuming court level for everything as ideal...
Probably behind the baseline... get to see the incoming/outgoing ball... ideally behind ad or deuce side corner (at an angle to see incoming serve, outgoing return etc...)
if I'm taking pictures... then on the side line, by the net, opposite where they are sitting (presuming sun is not facing me)

This might be a bit off topic, but instead of creating another thread I guess I could just ask my question here.

Alright, is it possible to take a picture with a pro on the tournament's final day ? If so, when ? After the match ? Or during their training time ? If it's during training time, when do they usually train, do they train early in the morning ?
