Good Tennis socks?

What socks do you guys wear? My Nike Dry-Fit feels like an oven after an hour or so of hard tennis (4.5-5.0) not to mention the smell.... Current shoes are the Barricade Vs. Any good breathable socks/shoe combo out there? Brand and price not really an issue.

Adidas' Clima Cool sock is cushy but not too thick and breathes good. It has just the right amount of spandex in it to keep it from slouching into the shoe when playing for while.

THere is a sock I pick up at FootAction called ProMax I think. They come 3pr for $9.99. I'll have to post the right name.

nike dri fit crew in the summer, nice and thin keep your feet dry and feel great

Thorlo crew in the winter, thick keep your feet toasty

I tried the Nike Dri-Fit and I hated the feel... It was like playing with no sock at all.. My foot was sliding around the shoe and I almost rolled ankle inside the shoe.. after a quick stop from a sprint. Anyone else had this problem? and I do tighten my shoes fairly snug..

This may be counter intuitive, but I would ask you to consider Thorlo level 2 socks and Gel Resolution 2 shoes. The socks wick moisture really well, and seem to keep my feet more comfortable than thin socks even on a hot day. The GR2's are just very comfortable, and I think more breathable than the BV's.
But if you want a thinner sock, even the Thorlo level 1's offer reasonable cushioning under the heel and ball of the foot.

Another vote for Thorlo's level 2 socks. I wear them with Adidas Feathers and Barricades in winter and summer. Just the right cusioning and feet stay dry.

Bring a few pairs of "normal" cotton nike socks and change them every set. Done.
Feels really good when you put on fresh socks.

Yeah the Nike crews don't breath well and smell bad very quickly. Then again I do use the black ones... Are you guys finding the same with the white ones?

Yeah, I use the black nike dri-fit crews, and it gets hot and smelly fast... Are the white ones different, I notice on TW that the black ones are called Nike Dri-Fit Crew socks, but the whites are called Nike Dri Fit TENNIS crew socks. Is there a different? other than price....

I've found the perfect shoe-sock combination for me. I wear the Nike Ballistec 1.3s (in a half-size larger than normal) with two pairs of Nike Dri-FIT Pro Compression socks. These socks do not slip and are extremely comfortable. But they are expensive. As for the Ballistec's, from the first time I played with them I liked them very much. I couldn't be happier with these Nike shoes and socks.

Those are nice, I have a couple of packs they just got them and worn them twice and I'm very impressed

I have to go with the dri fit ones that jmysun shows in his link. They are the best socks I've worn for tennis ever. Thorlos are way too thick and your feet actually move inside the sock. The Nike's are like wearing nothing at all.
