Good tension for syn gut/poly hybrid?

I plan on trying a syn gut/max power hybrid. I use a head extreme mp. I really enjoyed gut/max power, but want something comparable for less. What tension in the mains would you recommend for the syn guts that I have chosen:
Gosen OG Sheep Micro 16
Gamma Syn Gut 16
Gamma wearguard syn gut 16
Dunlop S-gut 16
Prince Syn Gut w/Duraflex 16
Gamma TNT2 16
I was thinking the poly cross about 50-53.

I would think 53lbs, although depending on where you live and cooler temperatures on the way, 50 may be a little better.

I do the inverse, Poly / SynGut and like it at 53lbs. (Head Gravity Pro and Speed MP, which are both 100sq inch)

I would start with the same tension as the gut/poly setup you liked. That way you only have one variable to evaluate at the start for that first half-set of mains. You can adjust the tension up or down for the second half-set to see if tension played a role in the differences you saw vs gut/poly.

Depends on what tension you normally play at. I like the feel of syn gut mains and poly crosses. I string in similar racquet to yours at syn gut 58 and poly at 50 or 52.

I find the syn gut stretches a fair amount and loses tension and thus if you string it too loose it moves around and becomes less consistent very quickly. I tend to break the syn gut fairly quickly. About 12 sets of doubles. Around 4.0 or 4.5 level. Has a great feel and comfort level though over full bed poly

I use either OGSM/Max Power Rough or NRG2/Max Power Rough. With the OGSM setup I string at 54/52, and the NRG2 setup I string at 56/53. They're pretty comparable setups at these tensions.

This is in a Wilson Ultra Pro 16x19

Depends on the stiffness of each string, and how much resulting friction there is between the mains and crosses. Really have to just try it and see.

Examples:
I use Prince SG with Duraflex mains and Isospeed Baseline 17L crosses (soft, cheap!) betwen 55-57#.
I tried Gamma TNT2 mains and ended up stringing them 1 lb higher than I did with the Prince, because it was softer.
I tried Dunlop Explosive 18g crosses and strung them 1-2 lb lower because it was stiffer than Baseline 17L
TNT2 and Explosive together (lol) seemed to have a lot of inter-string friction and seemed much stiffer than I would've thought it would be considering the strings separately.

Do you string mains and crosses both at 53?

Should I also give them a try full bed? Which ones would be the best in an extreme mp and at what tension?

I grew up playing with full synthetic gut, so I’ve got a nostalgic feeling for it. I actually switched to full synthetic gut but that was do to me trying a few full poly set ups and my arm not liking them.

I really enjoy full synthetic gut on my serve, volley and touch shots. And ground strokes are fine too.

But I do feel like I have more control in a Poly / SynGut hybrid. To me I get the control of poly but the comfort of SG.

If you go full bed of SG, I liked the Gamma with weather guard because my Speed was a 100 sq inch 16x19 and I’d break SG pretty quickly.

I do. I don’t string my own racquet, fwiw. But that’s what I ask my shop to do.
Thanks, I've always strung my mains 2-3lbs higher than crosses. In my Ultra Tour I just didn't really want to change it so it's at 52/52 and while I could tell a small difference at first, once it settled it feels great. I'm thinking on my main sticks I'll try it next time just to see how I like it.

I'm with EggSalad. I messed around with different cross tensions in poly/syngut setups, but I found that the feel was so dominated by whatever poly I had in the mains that +-4 lbs in the crosses hardly made any difference at all so I usually do the same tension for both in poly/syngut setups.

i tried syn gut at 40 lbs. I string polys at 37-38lbs. I just really hate the feel…it could be my racquet. Yonex vcore pro 97 is not soft.

(usual caveat that what works for me may not work for you)

I grew up with syn gut. Tried poly, loved the pocketing but needed more power and my elbow would barely tolerate the softest polys. Syn gut mains/poly crosses seem to work for me as long as the strings used interact well with each other. Some just don't (see: TNT2/Explosive, also not that fond of Gosen OG Sheep Micro Super).

I like Prince SG w/ Duraflex and Isospeed Baseline 17L enough to have bought multiple reels of each. I get 4-8 hours out of each string job but the way I see it 1) I'd rather break the strings before they lose tension and 2) I'd rather the strings be the consumable, not my elbow and wrist.

Unless it’s in a 95sq inch or less racquet, I wouldn’t string Synthetic gut below 50.
