Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic is included in Croatia's squad for the Davis Cup final against Slovakia.
I wonder what can he contribute.

Legend
I thought this was decided a while ago. He had to play a challenge match to earn a spot. I don't think he's slated to play an active match, although anything can (and has) happen in Davis Cup.

Firstly, moral support... He's such a legend in Croatia that just having him around is a boost.

Secondly, they might think that, in clutch moments, a retired Goran Ivanisevic is more likely to come through than, say, Roko Karanucic or Lovro Zovko, who are the 4th-ranked Croatians in singles and doubles, respectively. (Karanucic standing at 164 in the singles entry rankings and 429 in doubles, Zovko being 114 in doubles and 449 in singles).

Professional
I must say I am excited to see the Davis Cup Finals. And with a Legend like Goran there it will be even more interesting.

wow. watching Goran play competitively again... it'd be cool.

Goran IS playing competitively already. He's playing the veteran's tour. He's #1 at the time, above Wilander and McEnroe ;)

My two cents: Even an un-fit Goran could crash Karol Beck on singles. Ljubicic - Ivanisevic vs Mertinak - Beck on doubles would be a GREAT MATCH!!

Goran for PRESIDENT!!

Pretty sure he's #2 under Courier who just beat him at the Stanford event. Great match by the way, Goran had some pretty funny on court antics.
