Gosen Micro 16 Vs NXT Max 16 for crosses

Hi,

I am currently playing with SPPP 1.18 mains and NXT Max 16 crosses at 54/60.Was thinking of switching to the cheaper Gosen at 60 for crosses ?

How does the Gosen Micro compare to NXT Max when used as crosses in a hybrid ?

1. Is the gosen as comfortable or would it make the string bed firmer ?

2. Will the gosen be as durable as NXT Max in the crosses.

3. Will there be any loss in feel ?

Thanks for your answers folks.

I did something like this. (only with NG in the mains, not poly), and the gosen is considerably stiffer than NXT Max.

I strung it at 57 (which is about what I would normally string the NXT at), and it made the whole stringbed noticably stiffer for my taste. Ive since heard some people suggest that it doesnt work well over 55.

The good news is, I still have this setup today after 3 months of off and on use, and it's still too stiff for me (which is good I guess because it means it hasnt lost anything).

Im not a string breaker though so I cant speak to that. Gosen cost $4, so I cant imagine it's as durable as NXT, it probally will just snap on you eventually.

I was considering that if I ever tryed the cheap route again, Id try to go with Forten Sweet, it's not supposed to be as stiff. Or Ashway Liberty.

I do not think that the crosses will break before your 1.18 strings break or lose tension. I also like sweet in the crosses.

I like Gosen better than NXT as a cross string...NXT seems to go mushy very quick...the Gosen will be stiffer so I would reduce the tension by a few lbs. The SPPP mains have always broken first for me when using Gosen crosses.
