Semi-Pro
Hi All!
I feel compelled to write a positive comment to pay tribute and say kudos! to Wilson Tennis: they achieved to finally manufacture a synthetic grip which might compete with a leather one.
Please note I have never been able to stand synthetic grips - when I buy a new racquet which mounts one in stock form, I always order a spare leather grip (still Wilson, typically) and immediately carry out the replacement operation upon receiving. Can't stand the loss of feedback, the questionable grip safety, and that cushion effect.
...but, but...
I just received my backup Wilson Pro Staff v14 in its Noir edition (I swear I tried to get me to like that brave copper attempt, but did not succeed) and... that feeling... mmm...
So I decided to give it a try (damn! there's always tomorrow to fix it, isn't there?) and I gotta admit this black synthetic grip is actually usable.
Is it the Wilson Pro Performance? Whatever it is, it stands out from the competition. The somehow muting effect is almost vanished and contact with the ball is in fact very nice, both from the baseline and at the net.
Will I resist from putting on also this second leather grip? Dunno, but it definitly makes me wonder, whilst in the past I simply could not understand how on Earth several pro's accepted to play with a synth grip...
