Grand Slams Won Saving a a match point, being down two sets to love, being down a break in the 5th set

Djokovic - 5 - 2011 US Open (down two sets to love and saved match point in semifinal), 2012 Australian Open (down a break in 5th in final), 2015 Wimbledon (down two sets to love in 4th round), 2019 Wimbledon (saved match point in final), 2021 French Open (down two sets to love in 4th, down two sets to love in F)

Federer - 3 - 2009 French Open (down two sets to love in 4th round), 2012 Wimbledon (down two sets to love in 3rd round) 2017 Australian Open (down a break in 5th in final),

Nadal - 1 - 2013 French Open (down a break in 5th in semifinal)

Gee, lots of different criteria listed. Edberg comes to mind - 4 of his 6 majors were won in that fashion.

1985 AO R16(down 2 sets to love, match points), SF(down a break in the 5th)
1988 W SF(down 2 sets to love, down a break in the 5th)
1990 W F(down a break in the 5th)
1992 USO(down a break in the 5th in three straight matches - R16, QF, SF)

So where does this “Nadal is a fighter“ narrative come from?
He was always more of a great frontrunner, one of the greatest. The narrative came from his victories against Fed in 2008 and 09 because Fed fans had built up the narrative of Fed being supposedly invincible. In hindsight, at least some of that had to do with Nadal moving into his physical prime just as Fed was coming off his own peak.

Even Djokovic hadn't won a slam final from 2 sets to none down before this RG. Not that that matters because neither have Fed/Nadal. But out of the three, if I had to pick one to win from match points down and receiving, it would be Djokovic for sure. Seen it one too many times as a Fed fan myself, lol.

I mean we've known for a while when Novak is down he plays the best of the three. Just because he's down doesn't mean his level isn't good. He starts the slowest of them all imo.

Granted. Djokovic is master in this regard.
But what is striking that he did it twice against Fed and once against Nadal.

Whereas fed did once against nadal but was on receiving end against djoker two times.

Matches win in 3rd round , 4th round after being two sets down doesn't mean much. A top player easily raise the game against the lower ranked player and win 3 sets in a row.

Much tougher is when you're a break down or facing mp in deciding set and recovered

Panatta, Roland Garros 1976, vs Hutka, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, 0-6, 12-10, with a match-point for Hutka in fifth set.
