If she accepts, she has a WC waiting for her at the WTA 250 (recently moved from WTA 125) at Iași Open in Romania, according to the tournament director. The tournament will take place from July 21-26.

Won her first match in WTA 125 Hong Kong against Rodionova (#114). Happened to catch the tail of the match. She looked visibly fitter than her previous attempt to come back. Post-match interview, she said she was "very tired". Next round is either Navarro or Birrell. Lots of discussion in social media why top-10 player like Navarro is playing at WTA 125 - most likely it's the appearance fee. Unless she throws the match, next round opponent is likely to be Navarro.

WTA 125 is for lower ranked players to accumulate points and/or earn some desperately needed prize money, top 10 players should not be allowed to enter, and most won't do it, it's just too low! But consider Navarro's upbringing (slumlord billionaire dad), it's just a natural thing for her to do, instead of spending her own money while waiting in China. she now gets free lodging and handsome appearance fee, what a smart girl, as her dad would say!

Stars bring in fans. Nobody is showing up for someone you have not heard of. There as a rule proposed at one point limiting the number of top players allowed to participate in a single 125.

That's not the point here, Navarro took a spot away from some other girls who really need it, in the past we have seen some top girls playing 125, but usually it's because they did so poor on tour, they entered to get some wins to boost the confidence, Navarro is currently riding high on her USO SF, this is just shameless greedy from her!

Players need to earn their spot. There's nothing for free. It's pro tennis. Navarro is a relative newcomer too.

If she had signed up before the deadline, she earned the spot regardless of her ranking, but she got a wild card last week, so yes she took a spot away from others.

Scheduled to play 6th seeded Yue Yuan in HK Open Monday around 2am PST (5pm Monday local time). Rybakina posted a video on her Instagram practicing with Halep.

edit: scheduled time was changed

Simona lost 3-6 3-6. Her DTLs are not there yet, and Yuan is #45, serving harder, with a quicker taking of the ball on the rise. Halep looked fine, just a tad too slow. She had several airborne FHs, on short balls, that worked. She tried to rely on dropshots, with only so-so results. Not enough net play.

Her serves must get in, for they are slow enough.

Tiriac is right: She will have to play a lot. Where?
