At club´s level, there have been and still are legendary rivalries that have been developed over decades and express different social and cultural, even religious standpoints. They are the savvy and part of what makes football so special.
I have, like any other fan of this game some of them as my faves, most are in other countries but I am caught by the experience and passion and follow them as much as I can
Here are some of them:
Peñarol vs Nacional
Racing vs Independiente
Flu vs Fla
Boca vs River
Corinthians vs Palmeiras
Barça vs Madrid
Lazio vs Rome
Inter vs Milan
Sporting vs Benfica
Austria vs Rapid
Arsenal vs Tottenham
Liverpool vs Everton
Ajax vs Feyenoord
and, of course, what must be the greatest of all time and also the oldest
CELTIC vs RANGERS
and one of my favourites, sadly dissapeared , was not a derby but the national 1970´s german rivalry between Bayern and Gladbach
Borrusia is certainly the best ( not the biggest but simply best) team that never won the European Cup ( now Champions League)
I am interested more in the off field features than in the football played in itself
which are you favourite derbies
