Greatest Post You May Ever Read, Tell Everyone

Dude what your doing is not only illegal in most competitive play but is bad sportsmanship even if it isn't illegal where you are. I think you should change your attitude and bragging about making people cry isn't the right thing to do either.

California limits the ability to do this by having a round-robin format. Each singles player plays every other singles player. Same for the doubles teams. Slow starters don't like it, but I think it is a superior format for assessing the ability of the players and the depth of a team.

I was trying to figure out where I should post this story from today and this thread will have to do since it is also ridiculous.

I was walking past some tennis courts today on my way to the car from my daughter's soccer game and noticed to out of shape heavy guys playing shirtless tennis. They weren't good but it was the bigger one that made me laugh the most. They were finishing and collecting their stuff to walk to the same parking lot. I wasn't paying too much attention since my 5 y/o was riding her bike and there were cars all around. After getting the family packed into the car, I noticed what one of the tattoos read. Across his entire stomach read:

THUG
LIFE
FOREVER

I wish I had my camera; either video or still. I thought about jumping out of the car to see if he'd pose w/ me. I've now seen it all! A "Thug Life" tennis player. My wife didn't think it was as funny as I did. What do you think?

Maybe he played for San Quentin.

beat another today except he was a 18 year old punk driving a porche, he cried too,

Here in Queensland,Australia we have a two man Davis Cup format where you play reverse singles and doubles so it does even up.Of course, everyone is graded before the comp starts so it tends to be a bit more even.

Is It Worth It?

Stacking IS considered bad form, no doubt. It is also called sandbagging. IMO it is a desperation move and a sign that the captain believes his team is too weak to win legitimately. Whenever I realized another team captain was stacking the lineup I would laugh and feel confident knowing that the other team felt so weak against us that they had to resort to desperate measures. I wouldn't let my players know what was happening either. I just let them think they were playing a fairly matched lineup and tell all the players that they had what it took to beat the opponent and to just play their best.

On one team, when I was playing up at 4.0 and new to the team, I remember coming out of the bathroom and getting my lineup position for singles at an area playoff match (the winner that day would go to sectionals). As I approached everyone on the team had a glum look and the captain told me, "I'm so sorry, I never imagined the other team would do this..." Not knowing what she meant I was soon informed by every player that the opponent I had drawn at #2 singles was THE STRONGEST PLAYER IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE WITH A PERFECT RECORD AT 3.5 and 4.0, and had just played another singles match a 1/2 hour before which she won 6-0, 6-0. Knowing this I just resigned myself to try my best and lost 6-0, 6-0, my only double bagel in 6 years of league tennis. I even remember my teammate on the court next to me, who was playing #1 singles hiss, "they should put me in your spot, I could beat her". She did not, unfortunately do much better than I and lost 6-2, 6-2.

As a captain I would never enforce stacking unless the team voted to do so. There is an important reason for this: by stacking you are asking (or demanding) that one or more of your players or doubles teams sacrifice the possibility of a legitimate win and be given the job of losing. A really dedicated team member may be willing to do so for the greater good, but if the player is not comfortable being asked to do so, it should not be expected of him/her.

I have seen players lose friendships over such demands. I have also seen big tears and bitterness after a match in which a player or doubles team was expected to go out and get whipped at #1 when they could have won at #3. I also saw my team (I was not captain at the time) disintegrate in the sectional championship when a few team members incited a last-minute mutiny over the lineup, leaving one player completely out of the competition, another partnered with someone she had no experience playing with and intense pressure put on the #1 and #2 doubles teams to win at all costs. I remember the captain telling me as I approached to get my court assignment, "the inmates have taken over the asylum!". Well, the sacrificial team (me and my partner who was crying uncontrollably with anger and disappointment at the switch in the lineup) almost pulled it off in a 10-8 nailbiter 3rd set tiebreak, but the #2 singles and both the other doubles teams (the sure bets) all lost miserably, leaving us down 1-4 and out of the finals. That team never did recover as the bad vibes among players killed the otherwise happy and successful camaraderie.

In another instance I saw a captain insist that one player on the team be put in the sacrificial position not once but twice in a single sectional championship weekend. Not nice...When the player and team objected the captain simply said "it's not open for debate". That player and captain, who were very close friends, did not speak for 2 years.

So, when you contemplate stacking, be sure to take into consideration all aspects of the decision. You may win the battle but lose the war...

I would say this about any kind of gamesmanship. Tennis has a lot of gamesmanship that doesn't break the rules, but is clearly "bush league". Sandbagging of any kind is the same thing. It isn't against the rules, per se, and it is part of the game, but clearly it is gamesmanship.

Humanity is bigger than tennis! Tennis -- whether you win or lose -- should be an enjoyable experience. Winning or losing in tennis should not be used to degrade someone afterall we are humans.

How can we attract new players to tennis if 50% match losers are disrespected, or we cheat to hide rankings, etc?

This thread should have been:

The Worst Post You may Ever Read.

i dont believe in something that doesnt exist, posts all true
I have the feeling if you met God, you'd try to eat Him.
You are a troll. Go home. I thought you were too busy doing your ice cream diet and shake weights to come here anymore.
I don't know if the OP is a troll, but he met one once. And ate it.
Please position the camera so we can see the court and ball action... perhaps a helicopter shot
No can do. He ate the helicopter...
It's hard to play tennis while driving a porche (or even a porsche). Sure, they accelerate and corner nicely, but.........
...but they're great with salt and ketchup. Just ask the OP.
yet you still read it. Looks like many care and read them. I will continue to bump them whenever i want.
Next time your in kentucky I'll run you around on the court. Then I'll eat you.

this thread never gets old to me. Had to bump it in support of federer over nadal tommorrow before I eat them.

never like useing the sacrafical lamb at the 1 and 2.
OP won't be doing that anymore. After the match he roasted and ate the sacrificial lamb.
they other team couldnt walk off because I ate their shoes...

They definitely don't bounce far.

that vid wasn't for you folks it was for people at a gambling forum that dared me to just post a vid Do tell, then, why did you post it here? By the way, kids, gambling is addictive. Stay in school.

Also my serves do not bounce, slice, spin and you just couldnt tell how fast they are on those vids That's because they hit the net first.

Sorry, I couldn't see those 125mph serves whizzing by on their way to the fence. The whole two bounces before the baseline thing screws up my depth perception.

you probaly notice im no longer coaching or i would of made posts since then. I am playing my best tennis ever and around 350 now. I'm christopher robinson on facebook. Dark pitcher of me . Of course i don't show my body on it. Alot of muscle of course, but fat covering it up. Just picture pro wrestler samoa joe playing tennis but a little heavier. Not too bad. Im just addicting to lifting weights and eat junk food at night combined with bad genetics. I actually do about 100 miles a cardio a week and about ten thousand ab crunches and side bends. Only thing thats ever made me lose weight is low carb. Just can't go without the bread and tators.

I applaud you, sir. This is the best thread evar.

Man this thread started 6 years ago....and seeing the new vid....he should be a lot better now!

The thread was funning and the opening post was hilarious.

OP....if you want to get better at tennis....first get your fitness up high. You need a good base to start improvements and allow gateways to skills.

Try Insanity from BeachBody. If thos vids are from 2011.....a 5-6 years of tennis should made you tons better. From that vid it shows you didn't. There is so much the physical body can be limited too. I was overweight before, P90X and Insanity got me in the normal range....and my endurance is at a sky high!

i did this in high school as well. I was the 2nd seed. 2nd seed was traditionally where my school and our main competitor battled hardest. So i gave up my spot and played 1st doubles. we won 3-2 as well.

Nice serving guy. It's no wonder you won your grudge match against that other coach. Can you show us your second serve?
