Grip size difference: Head vs Wilson

The Head grip size feels smaller than Wilson's grip size. For Head players, do you go one size smaller when buying a Wilson?

i think it might be the the rectangular shape that makes a HEAD grip feel smaller than a wilsons even though they;re both the same size

Well I'm interested in other HEAD players' preferences to compensate for the missing rectangular shape in Wilsons. I personally feel that the rectangular shape allows me to pronate my arm more easily, so I was just wondering if a smaller Wilson grip could mimic that shape a little bit better.

i keep the same grip size. but thats me

I am a Head player but personally feel like the Head grips seem larger than the Wilsons of the same size. Also I prefer the feel of the Wilson shape so I have sent my frames to **** and had Wilson pallets put on them. Just my $.02

For me, it depends on the model - I have had to down size when demoing the k95, but used my regular head size when trying out the Ktour

I have changed my pallets 100 times on my head i.prestiges and I now use L3 TK82S... When trying some of my stock frames in regular head L3 pallets they do feel a little bigger, if you use a SW grip I wouldn't change the size but if you play with a western grip then it may be better to drop 1 in size. There isn't much difference in the sizes but depending on the grip that you use it may bother you more and you would have to figure it out for yourself.

same. after switching from head wilson seemed smaller.

It depends on your grip I find. With Head pallets, if you hold a full western, the grip is HUGE! Anything else, it's a bit smaller. Wilson is a pretty universal grip for me, and it's the same size on all bevels to my knowledge. :)

hey guys, I want to ask which brand has a bigger grip size in L3 - Wilson or Head?
Yonex. My Blade 100 V9 and Extreme Pro grips are pretty close in size (L2) I would imagine L2 to L3 for both should be pretty proportionally but then again, you never know. Maybe someone with L3 sizes can chime in.

I know. I use L2 in yonex and babolat. L3 in Head. I had Blade v8 with L2 but it was so small.

Head L3 is lil bit too big

However, you can easily adjust the handle yourself.
The PU foam is relatively easy to work with.
With a coarser sandpaper glued to a wooden board, you can sand off a tenth or two.
Clamp it firmly in a vice and work carefully.
You can leave the butt cap on the handle. It is important to measure each work step with a caliper so as not to remove too much.

You can try to unwrap und re-wrap the basegrip.
Sometimes the Basegrip is wrapped very lose around where the buttcap meets the grip pallet or the transparent tape on the pallets is throwing a lot crincles which creates extra volume under the basegrip.

You could also get a Tourna Pro Thin (1.25mm Thickness) or the Pro Tour Thin (1.5mm Thickness) replacement grip if you need to go down in grip size.

Correct.... Got one of my head like that.... One can decrease the overlap of replacement grip too. Head usually overlaps a lot

So is it agreed upon that HEAD and Wilson have the same grip sizing? Neither one is bigger or smaller than the other?
You can't feel a lot of difference, atleast difference is not as pronounced as in case of head vs Yonex or head vs babolat.

Moreover, my personal observation is that grips(replacement grip)tends to compress over time by holding.
I can definitely feel one of my head speed's grip feels less cushioning and thinner to hold as compared to my other gravity (which I used very very less).

Check these out... Might help

Yes, the good Troy only measured half the things.
The diagonal is extremely important for the grips.
That's mainly where the differences are.
