Who do you think will be the Chair Umpire for the Men's Singles Final at Roland Garros? I know the answer and will post it later on.
LOL. That would be great! Of course with the following line crew:Nadal_Freak (men), veroniquem (women)
whoa.. there will be many disputes among lines judges rather than players. :lol:LOL. That would be great! Of course with the following line crew:
Gj011, GameSampras, ClayRules, BreakPoint, Deuce, LeeD, Conquistador
Mohamad Lahyani, the best umpire I've ever seen since.... that guy with shaved(or bold) guy whose name I can't remember.....
Kader Nouni because he has the coolest voice, coolest hair, and is French.
Anyone who says otherwise is obviously a hater and if he doesn't end up being the umpire it's only because he has a throat injury.
Steve UllrichWho do you respect most Woodrow?
The answer is:
Pascal Maria.
The semifinal chair umpires are Emmanuel Joseph and Enric Molina, although I don't know who is doing which semi.
The men's doubles final chair umpire is:
Cedric Mourier.
A lot goes into the decision. Of course, if there is a qualified umpire from the country of the Grand Slam, that is a major factor. Nationalities of the players have a lot to do with it too. Sometimes, 3 or 4 umpires have to remain on stand by because you can't be in the chair at a grand slam with a player from your country unless both players are from your country.I'd really like to see Mo in the chair, but I sense it might be Lars.
Woodrow- It'd be nice if you could offer us a little insight into how these things are decided along with the answer....

Umpires have certain players on a "no list." That factors into it.
Who had a great week in the chair.
Read his post a little closer. He knows who the ump will be and we don't.No clue. Does it matter? Just curious why you would start a poll about this. Got any scoop?
Yah I like him too. He seems like a cool dude and always in control.I'm going with Mohamed Lahyani since he is my favorite chair ump.
A player that the umpire doesn't get along with. There may have been situations that happened in a match that would make it inappropriate for the umpire to do one of their matches for a while.
Doesn't look good if something happens and a call goes in that player's favor. Davis Cup and Olympics, it's the same thing. They stay with it as much as possible at tour events, but it's not easy at tour events because there are a lot of players, and only like 5 or 6 chair umpires. Can you explain why umps can't do matches of their fellow countrymen? I know it's probably obvious, but it's still sorta unfair to miss out on a chance to ump a slam final, just because your countryman's in it.
With all due respect to how supremely difficult umpiring is, I thought that Emmanuel Joseph did a fairly weak job in the chair today for Gonzalez/Soderling. Regardless of whether his decisions (and even his procedure) were correct or not, he did a fairly weak job of maintaining control, respect and trust with the players, and brought doubt to areas where it could have been avoided. Just one man's opinion, and I'm not saying I could do better, but it was a shame that it became part of the contest.
Romano has not retired. He will be at Wimbledon as a chair umpire.I agree 100%, he was even reluctant to come out of the chair a couple of times. Unacceptable.
I miss Romano Grillotti, he was the best, too bad he's retired.![]()

He doesn't work as a full time chair umpire anymore for the ATP. More of a supervisor, but he is still a chair umpire.Oh, that's good to hear.
For some reason, I thought he was retired, haven't seen him at all lately.
