Guy Forget full of praise for Nadal : '' He apologised to me ten times.''

Forget first spoke just about Nadal, praising the Spaniard for his behaviour: 'A few days before the tournament, in Basel, he had withdrawn.

And I had called Carlos Costa to get some news and he said he's just hitting the ball. He's not moving at all on the court. But he's going to come. He wants to come. You can count on us. And I must admit, this was a relief for me.

When he came to Paris, it was the first time he was running laterally on the court and he had positive feelings and the federation was relieved. But, of course, he still could lose because, of course, as he couldn't move well, he was in danger of losing confidence.

But it went well. Unfortunately, yesterday he played a very tough opponent who was playing fast, trying everything he could, and there it happened. The pain came back. He had a strap. Then he had a pain in the other leg. Yesterday night he felt pain and Bernard Montalvan, the doctor, gave him a treatment yesterday and this morning.

But this morning he said, I can't even go on the court. I can't move at all.' 'He apologized to me ten times. Like if he was a child having done something wrong. I believe he's quite skeptical about his chances in playing in London now, and he came in Paris all the same.

So what I remember is the great effort he made and he went to the end of what he could do. So I really thank him for having come here and I think he pleased many people, thousands of people, coming here. And you too.'

Rafa shouldn't feel obligated to apologize ten times to Guy Forget. Pretty much took advantage of Nadals good nature and practically embarrassed him by those remarks instead of praising him. Nadal should make a statement concerning this just for pride sake. Why should Forget be able to say whatever he wants about two legends without some kind of consequence? Hes not Rod Laver, Pete Sampras, Borg, etc. He's lucky to have gotten a good final today plus have Bennetau make a good run. Better get use to lower rung players in Bercy with the current schedule. Get used to top players not sacrificing themselves anymore for a director that can't even give praise without an insult attached. What an idiot

When he leaves the presser, you can see the pain he's in and how bad he feels that he had to pull out. Humbalito :/

Forget's remarks are a bit cringey but credit to Nadal for telling him himself.

Whisper it but Fed getting his agent to do it was a bit Pseudofed, (runs away looking for cover)

Sounds like his knees are pretty bad. I would be fine if he called it a year. Off-season is way too short anyway.

From what I gathered his knees aren’t getting worse but they aren’t getting better either. It’s one of those things that come and go, so who knows what will happen.

I was hoping that he could have a good run at the WTF, but at this point I’m just hoping he has a decent run at the AO next year.

Nadal really needs to skip the WTF now. Considering how bad his knees are, he needs a long rest and needs to shut it down for the season. He came to Paris for the Year End no1, and he got that. No point in trying to worsen the condition and mess up your own chances at the AO.
He has a good chance of winning the AO considering that only Fed is his obstacle. He has also stated that he wants to play for a couple more years. For that he has to pick and choose, and the WTF is just something he will have to skip unfortunately

Here is a full transcript of Nadal's apology:

"Sorry for picking my butt, no?

Sorry for the time violations, no?

Sorry for making Roger cry, no?

Sorry for all the injury breaks in my career, no?

Sorry for the inconsistency in my ranking, no?

Sorry for not proposing to my girlfriend after all these years together, no?

Sorry for inflicting Toni upon the world, no?

Sorry for doing a great impression of a ********, no?

Sorry for all the times I've irritatingly shouted "Vamos", no?

Sorry for the above nine apologies - and this one - no?"

The post quoted above is yet another proof that Rafa haters' world is revolving around his lower body.

Nope. He's going to give everything he got to win the WTF. If he chose to play an ATP500 Beijing, it make no sense to skip the 5th biggest tournament of the year.

It makes sense to skip anything that is not going to help his ranking when his body is not right. If Fed has played Paris and then felt unable to complete that tournament he would most likely also skip the WTF.

The ATP website:
¤¤ Top 30 players (based on 2016 year-end Emirates ATP Rankings) must play a minimum of four 500 level tournaments during the calendar year, including at least one event following the US Open (Monte Carlo Masters 1000 event will count towards the minimum of four and all penalties apply).¤¤

Guy won't be the only one thanking Nadal for coming to Paris if Goffin or Sock sneak in a win on *******.

On a serious note though, Nadal really shouldn't bother with the WTF at this point. Even if the draw is at its weakest in years, his chances of winning are unrealistic and #1 isn't on the line.

So when do you think that Rafa will be announcing that he is not playing the WTF?
It’s not fair to keep Busta guessing.

He played Beijing because of the year end no1. He has got that now. Plus his knees at that time werent injured, unlike now.

I dont think Nadal has any tournament as mandatory, as well as Federer, because there is a rule that they can skip whatever they want due all the years they have in the tour. Heck, still a fake injury would have taken himself out of Beijing. The reality is that he played there because he wanted to.... and it is fine, there is no need to paint a different picture

Players should follow their schedule blindly, regardless of injury, at least play a few matches to ensure they become further injured, to "please" the crowd with your worst level (and help ATP's bank account).

Embarrassing d0uche, this guy. Let's forget.

They can skip Masters 1000, not 'whatever' they want.

His knees are just fine. When you see him running around like a rabbit next week, I'll wait for you to tell me with a straight face he has injured knees.

Why would he withdraw from Paris then?
This was a GREAT opportunity for him to win in Paris for the first time (his draw was as much of a joke as the USO draw)

So he leaves no stone unturned in his London preparation ? It is a once in a lifetime chance he has this year , he needs to win one real match to win WTF. Nothing much to prove by winning Paris when no.1 is in the bag.
