As surprising as it is sudden. Or sudden and surprising. According to the French newspaper The team, Guy Forget, current director of the Roland Garros and Paris-Bercy tournaments (the two largest tennis events in the country) announced his departure.

Forgive and "forget", eh?

Well I'm certainly not in a magnanimous mood to forgive this "guy" for beating Jeremy Bates at Wimbers.

Yes, his contract will expire at the end of this year.

IOL Sport: ¤¤ Guy Forget is to step down as director of both the French Open and the Paris Masters at the end of the year when his contract ends, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) announced on Tuesday.

The reasons for his departure are not specified. According to the sports daily L'Equipe, Forget, 56, presented his resignation to the president of the FFT Gilles Moretton on Tuesday morning.

"Guy Forget, whose contract ends on December 31, 2021, is stepping down as director of the Roland-Garros tournament and of the Paris Masters. His successor for the Grand Slam will be announced in the coming days," said the FFT in a statement.

The announcement comes just a month after Forget was cleared of any wrong-doing by the FFT's ethics committee following his naming in an investigation into a tax avoidance scheme in the tax haven of the British Virgin Islands.
Forget's name was cited in early October in the Pandora Papers, an investigation by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), according to which he had benefitted from tax packages in the British Virgin Islands.¤¤

I'd vote for Mario Bartoli at RG. She's smart, she's classy and she can kick some ass.

Mario ? lol didn’t know she changed sex :-D I’d like Noah or Leconte but they are not politically correct enough...Amélie Mauresmo could be a good choice.
:-D
Not Noah he has shown zero leadership/business skills so far. Leconte neither. Mauresmo? I liked her commentary at RG this year, particularly her stance on things to improve with the FFT. I'm down.

Dear old Jezza Bates. Suspect if it hadn't been Forget somebody else would have done the job.

The pre-Henman 90s!

Jezza was our best bet at that time, and I remember the clamour about how he would potentially be the first British player to reach the qf at Wimbledon since God knows when.

Never forget that sneeze which put Jeremy off at such a clutch moment.

Noah and Leconte was national heroes when they won the davis cup 91, and it was a huge publicity for the tennis in France it's too bad...for Bartoli she had a strange behavior after her retirement, eating disorder etc...she's better now but I don’t see her as a director, it will be probably Pioline or Grosjean, why not Santoro. But Amélie could be the perfect choice.

Forget forgot to screw Novak's schedule and draw this year... He thought Nadal will do Novak with ease, as he did few months earlier... Well, that went badly...

Mauresmo thought the Williamses were bad for tennis in the early naughties - Instead of a challenge for her to meet and defeat a la Henin/Clijsters/Capriati. Such public statements reveal a defeatist personality, lazy thinking, and a lack of vision.

She had an awful record against Davenport, and worse still as Murray's coach.

Outside of the feels, I don't see her adding much value to the tournament.

I’m confused by the title. Does the OP mean that a guy forgets he is no longer the director of Roland Garros and Paris-Bercy? A case of Alzheimer’s possibly?

It’s a rough portrait, she won three slams, former number 1, for Murray perhaps the it's was not a good experience, but she gave advice to Bartoli throughout the Wimbledon tournament, until victory.

... "defeatist personality" ? Like many french players... she felt pressure at RG too, and she kept the fact she was homosexual for years, and
which was probably not easy . There's was the classy remark of Hingis too "She travels with her girlfriend. She is half a man."

"lack of vision" anyway the the biggest changes for Roland have been made (roof, night sessions new tennis courts).

And for Forget do you remember the fiasco of the Nadal/Federer 2019 matches in a empty stadium because the tickets had been sold to "V.I.P" who would rather eat and drink champagne than watch the matches.
