Habits and Superstitions?

lol, i do this... given a choice, i'll always pick the ball that just won me the last point...
not a stickler for it though...
Yeah, I don't have a problem with it if the ball is on the court somewhere. But waiting for other courts to finish their point so that you can retrieve the magic tennis ball screams

I have no plan and no confidence...take me home magic tennis ball!

I put my overgrip finishing tape on with the letter upside-down .

I do this too! Ever since I was a set down at a tournament and accidentally did it (and was annoyed about it) then got hot and won the tournament.

My other superstitions:

Never ever mix Nike with adidas (which is easy because I don't wear adidas).

Never tie my shoes until Im about to play.

If I get down 0-40, as ''punishment'' I will not allow myself to hit a hard flat first serve until Im back at deuce. I only hit heavy kick or slice. Doing this actually calms me down too so that I don't throw a game away just because Im done.

I guess thats all of them.

On the racket spin, it's always either "letter facing up" or "big." So with Babolat rackets, I pick the big side up, with Head rackets it's the U (letter facing "up") and with a Wilson I always take the "W."

Tennis players do seem to be a quirky bunch.

I always choose down if im the one calling the racquet spin.

I never serve the same ball twice in a row whether its a new point, second serve, or let serve. The only time it's noticeable is on a second serve let when i dont have another ball in my pocket. Even if the returner hits the let second serve ball back to be I'll get a different ball... Even if it means walking to the back fence or net to retrieve.

AWESOME! I'm glad to hear you've won. You're my new Tennis Inspiration .

Wow, where do I begin... I think my habits/superstitions are more likely to appear during competitions, maybe less during everyday matches. Some of it applies to all the time... hahaha

1. I number the racquets and have to rotate sequentially based on the time I string em.
2. Same as the above for grips
3. All racquets have to have the same type/color of dampener
4. Clothes don't have to match as in ALL Nike or Wilson from head to toe... but I DON'T KNOW why I have this itch of shoes having to match the socks. This is for brand AND color.
5. When I wear my wristband, the branding is facing inward and not outward.
6. I HAVE to ask/speak the point before serving/returning
7. I'm BARELY trying to adjust that I have an odd number of racquets in my tennis bag.
8. I have to have my watch during a match.
9. After the end of an odd game (that changes over), I get my towel hanging on the fence, cover my head like I'm wearing a burqa, and walk to the bench.
10. Pre-game dump during competitions. No dump? Sit on it for a while
11. Even on BLISTERING hot days, I just can't wear a cap

All the ball must be on the server's side before the point starts.
I don't like to hold balls in my pocket if I'm not serving.
I will only carry two out of the three balls when serving and will walk back for the third if it's a let (if the other guy doesn't toss me the ball back).
More often than not I will go through all 3 balls and look for the best 2 before serving.
I use the best ball for the second serve, because I'd rather have the second serve bounce higher and fly faster than hope for a little more on my first serve.
Oh, and I usually spend the first game of the day exclusively hitting second serves unless I got a really good warmup in.
