Hail Becker!

Seems that Big Boris managed to banish Nole's mental demons and finally get him over the line in a GS final. Congrats to both player and coach on one of the sweetest titles of Nole's career. Hope this title ends all the "Fire Becker" BS threads on this forum!

I'm pretty sure Djoker could have won without any coach ;) Nothing against Becker.

It's like Phil Jackson coaching Jordan: "Michael, win this game"

I also don't think he won it because of Becker. Btw, since Boris is German it would have been better to name the thread heil Becker

the way i saw it, Djokovic won because Federer could not get his first serves in in his last service game and against Djokovic, second serves are not good enough. So, like the others, I don't see Becker's contribution.

In fact Rogers huge Ace differential was the only thing that brought him to a set 5. In the end it was time/serves just running out.

It's impossible to determine how much influence Becker had over Nole winning this title.

Tbh, I suspect little.

However, even that few extra percent makes all the difference.

It looks like Shokavish is having a positive effect on Becker, he is looking a lot healthier than he was 6 months back. He looks calmer too, he stopped the excessive cheer-leading during the matches.

Did you watch the match? Djokovic was 1 or 2 more bad hops or 'fans cheer too loud/long for Fed' to completely melt down.

But your title is correct - the Becker hire finally paid off. But only because he gave him the confidence in his serve and some tips on getting to net and putting points away.

The fact that Djokovic DIDN'T completely melt down proves that hiring Becker was worth it. Last year, the 5th would have ended up like the USO final 4th set. It would have been ugly. I think Boris gave him that little intangible that separates a choke from a title.

Boris is on life support and 1 major from being chucked out. Novak hinted tough adjustments multiple times today

Becker got his million dollar bonus check. Yes, it does look like health is rubbing off on Boris too. He's gotta get up early, walk around, get fresh air, be around people eating healthy,...not a bad deal for Becker's wife either.

Is Becker just overweight, or is there some other reason why he is looking so bad, bit worried about him to be honest.

It is said he drinks too much.

In Germany Becker has become a media clown, before working with Novak he used to talk trash on twitter and make stupid comments here and there. I hope he gets his life managed better in future but I doubt it.

He knew the cameras would be on him, and he also knew when they were he'd be getting compared with Edberg. I suspect that might have had something to do with it all as well.

Well - seems that Djoker's serve has never been better, RF didn't see any breakpoints for three consecutive sets....I can see some of Becker's help in that
