Rather than add on to the separate OOP thread, I'll just try editing this particular post daily as the tournament goes on to show the Schedule of play for each day.

Emm, not sure whether Federer will play anot, but the final in Roland Garros was not too long but Federer had a few tough matches before the final.. and he would only have less than 1 day to prepare on grass...

I voted for Novak, since I think fed will not play.
even if he did play, he would have a let down playing 3 straight weeks.

Well you know how they massage the schedules around to accommodate the top players, and Roger did appear to be in excellent condition at the end of the RG straight set final. Besides, it's less that 4 hours before the first matches begin today, and the website doesn't mention anything about the defending champ not defending his title. Wouldn't they be the first to know?

Federer said he felt tired from the French Open. Especially mentally drained because of the high pressure he felt and the fact he played his last four matches like they were a final. That's why people think he might pull out, but I'm not so sure. I think he likes Halle, he's probably looking forward to grass, wants to play a warmup tournament, has it scheduled anyway and he's got 2 days off, probably they'll even give him three days of rest until Wednesday if that's what he needs.

Have Roger & Novak ever met on grass? That would be an interesting match.
They haven't. Fed has a 7-4 record with 5 hard and 2 clay. However, during the past two years, Djokovic has a 4-3 record, winning their last two meetings at Rome and IW.

I'm hoping to see Fed school Novak in a match on grass. I hope the Federer 3-set curse against Novak and Murray will not spread to the grass.

which curse is that?

Its curse called- "Federer is Chuck Norris" in which he plays only 1-st set, and then hes bored and let the oponnent called Novak or Murray win the whole match.

p.s- Also, all non grand slam events are not important until Fed win them!

LOL,really made me laugh, good post. With that said I do think slams are much more important than masters and atp tourneys regardless if Fed wins them or not.

Not on Federer's official website and not on ATP Halle's official website. He's not scheduled for tomorrow (Tsonga and Djokovic are), so i guess he'll play starting wednesday

ah ok.So he will play after all!:D I really wanted him to have a preparation tourny for Wimby!

Of course they are, though, to some people its the only thing that matters since Fed is "not that much interested" in masters.Hes probably BORED of them.yeah

Well I'm sure Fed still wants to win everytime he steps on court(plus if he didn't care I doubt he'd break a racquet against Novak in Miami)but he is trying to peak for slams, him and Sampras always did that. They sort of always arranged their schedules around slams.

Yes its smart thing to do, see Rafael now? His knees are bothering him because he played every freaking tournament..Thats a shame, but dont underestimate masters series, 1 masters title+ masters semi or final is almost like a grand slam achievement in ATP points comparaison. No? :)

Agree,I think Nadal could learn quite a bit about scheduling from guys like Sampras or Fed.

As for the grand slams,I don't think they're just about points, especially for guys like Nadal and Fed.It means a much more than that to them.

Yes but ATP points >> ranking>> world #1... That means alot to every player, especially to Fed i think.

Haas always plays well here, he should get to the SF against Federer. And maybe Fed will return the favor and let Haas beat him. ;)

Agree,I'm sure #1 means a lot to Fed and he will try to regain it(I think he said that himself at the end of last year).Fed also said after winning Madrid that he was very happy he won his first masters shield since 2007 so I think he still cares for masters, not as much as he does for slams of course but that goes for any player.

On the ATP-website there's an article there since january. It's from the magazine Deuce, but you can read it on the website. The title of the article is 'Federer's no. 1 focus'

Says enough

The curse Fed suffers against Murray and Djokovic in 3-set matches. He wins the 1st set convincingly, and then he losses focus in the 2nd and start making a lot of errors and losses the match.

Well....there's a reason this only happens when he plays Murray and Djokovic. It's not like he just makes a gizillion errors and beats himself. These two can throw him off his game. This usually only happens in non-GS matches though which is strange.

maybe but ı wont be supriesed if he announce it tomorrow..

you really think he'd pull out that late? i suppose it's possible, and after his roland garros win, he can certainly afford the penalty to his ranking points, I guess? :???:

There was an article somewhere in which he said today that he wasn't sure yet. He's got the class to pull out in time, but on the other hand the tourney organization will wait for him if that makes him decide to come in the last moment

I think he'll be fine to be honest, it's not like the first couple of rounds should tax him, it's likely to only be 2 sets on court a day to get going.

when you say "he's got the class," do you mean that his ranking points score is high enough to be able to handle the penalty that w/b assessed in accordance with the rules?

I'm a bit shaky on my rules but isn't the pulling out after the acceptance list is out penalty only for atp 500 events?

that could very well be. i'm so shaky that the only version of the rules i've seen are the ones posted on this website. i did just look at the rankings on the atp website and noticed that they give points for the 250 events, so i assumed that the rules apply to any event for which points are given, but since to assume makes ... well you know the rest!
